“You can’t be serious.” Siren greeted me when I got off the elevator on the second floor. She saw the scratches on my face that were already healing, and her face contorted into something akin to demonic. “Did she do that to you? I’ll kill her!”

“You will do no such thing!” I growled, my voice booming in the room. “This will heal up by the time I finish our business with Father.” I started to walk away but turned to face her. “Siren, if anything happens to her, you will be the first person I hunt down... and I will be ruthless.”

She stared at me for a long moment, nodded once, and stormed off to another room.

“Here’s the money we collected tonight.” Marshall shoved the zippered leather pouch into my hands. When we were on the job, he handled the money for me until we returned. He stared at me, placing his hands on his hips as he took a deep breath. “You aren’t serious about the girl, are you?”

“Dead serious.” I arched an eyebrow. “You got a problem with that?”
