" My lady, here is your breakfast," Xiaowei said happily as she placed a tray, full of various dishes, in front of Yang Ning. 

Generally, Yang Ning wasn't allowed to have the same dishes to eat as the other members of the household and was given only the leftovers of the last night for breakfast. 

It was the doing of the Senior Maid. Since she was the Head Maid and had the powers to supervise the kitchen staff, she had restricted them to make individual portions for Yang Ning as it was a waste of ingredients, according to her. 

Xiaowei used to feel sorry for her lady. She was the eldest daughter of the Yang Household after all, how can she be treated worse than a Head maid? 

Head Maid is also a maid after all. How can she mistreat her Master?

She once even complained about the atrocities of the Head Maid to the Mistress of the Household, Chang Ah.
