Lu Jincheng was sincere, he truly felt that if Ji Yao had told him directly that she wanted the money because of her mother's serious illness, he wouldn't have acted the way he did.
To his surprise, Ji Yao laughed upon hearing this, turning her face to the side, with the fallen hair at her temples blurring her features.
"Is there any point in saying this now? Stop playing the good guy here, we're already divorced," she said. "You have the one you love waiting at home, yet here you are talking to me. You really live up to the name President Lu, wanting to have a foot on two boats."
Ji Yao's sarcasm was full, leaving Lu Jincheng feeling somewhat ashamed.
He knew that Ji Yao's words were a veiled reference to his picking up Zimo from abroad.
This was something he truly had no defense for; looking back, he realized he had indeed been a scoundrel and should not have acted that way.
"I know I was wrong."
Lu Jincheng's voice was like that of a wronged, abandoned little dog.
