a/n: This chapter was almost from the wiki, with minor details derailed from the canon and a little bit of the story.
Jean Grey was the youngest daughter of Elaine Grey and Professor John Grey.
She and her older sister, Sara, were raised in a farmhouse near Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, where her father taught history there.
When Jean was ten years old, she was playing with her best friend, Annie Richardson, who was at that time accidentally hit by a car. Her distress awakened her mutant telepathic powers, which empathically linked her to her dying friend.
The traumatic experience of Annie's death left her in a state of withdrawal and deep depression. Moreover, she was not able to control her newly awakened telepathic abilities, which forced her to isolate herself from other people to hold on to her sanity.
Months later, a psychiatrist recommended to her parents that they should consult Professor Charles Xavier, who was secretly a mutant with telepathic abilities just like her.
Xavier revealed his power to Jean Grey and used it on her.
He found that she was housing a very dangerous entity inside of her.
To protect her, Professor Charles Xavier decided to block her powerful telepathic abilities with his psychic shields.
He will not lift it until she develops a mind strong enough to handle it.
He then assisted her in unlocking her potential as a telekinetic. He taught her how to levitate and manipulate objects through psionic force.
Under Xavier's tutelage, she became stronger and stronger, but one thing she couldn't do was stop herself from reading people's minds with her powerful telepathy. Professor Charles Xavier couldn't read her mind or calm her down when she lost control. He needs other strong people to help him knock her out.
That was the only thing they couldn't do to help her.
In those times, Jean Grey also helped him calibrate his cerebro with a mutant locator device. Their psychic contact with young orphan Scott Summers' mind was successful, and they successfully invited him to the group.
After years of treatment, Jean Grey successfully recovered.
Xavier then recommended to John and Elaine Grey that they enroll their daughter in his newly established Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, but they refused.
Professor Charles Xavier tried to convince them, but to no avail. This was because he didn't explain to them that their youngest daughter was a mutant.
and he couldn't control their minds because Jean would know she was too powerful for him to control her now. He regretted that he trained her too well.
Professor John Grey refused him because he got a new job with higher pay, so he wanted Jean Sara and his wife to come with him to live near the school he was teaching.
Professor Charles Xavier couldn't reveal anything to them about the mutant because of his plan, so he could only let Jean go for now.
But before she went with her family, he asked her if there was a time he needed her help. Would she come and help him?
of cause Jean, who didn't know anything about the blocking inside her head, was very grateful to him and promised that she would help him if needed.
And that was her story about why she was at Brooklyn Visions Academy instead of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
...…
In Brooklyn Visions Academy at lunch time
Jean was sitting in the corner of the school cafeteria, eating her sandwich while reading her books as usual.
She was so concentrated on her book because of the coming exam that she didn't seem to pay attention to the guys who tried to impress her.
For her, they were just a bunch of idiots.
'Why didn't they just go away? Their minds were so dirty."
Jean wanted to smack them with her power, but she couldn't expose herself as a mutant. She wanted to stay away from them, but even if she could get away from them, she would be met with other more troublesome groups, so she could only endure silently until they tired and went away by themselves.
It should be like this, but today something different happened.
"Hello there, can I have these seats for me and my friends?"
A handsome, savvy guy with a grin promised pain while talking to the bunch of idiots behind him. Miles was standing still. He wanted to say something to his friend, but she knew it was already too late.
She looked at the handsome guy again, but this time she was surprised not by how handsome he was or his awe-inspiring behavior but because she couldn't hear his thoughts!
More than that, he didn't look at her one bit and went to take action with the bunch of idiots with his friend as a vanguard, and they won the fight! and easy as that.
Two vs. five muscle-brain idiots Even though she didn't like them, she knew that they were strong because they were American football players.
After their victory, they were brought to the principal's office. She thought a little bit and went to help them.
who knew that he was a mutant too, and he was very angry at her because she read his mind.
She didn't want to do it.
why he had to look at her with those scornful eyes
She couldn't take it and ran away because she didn't want him to think that she read his mind out of her will.
Who knew that he followed her? Did he want to exact his vengeance? He was very scary now.
Run! She needs to run!
