Chapitre 2: The Fate of a Hero
"Hum, what's happening? Where I am?" thought Diggle while waking up. When he start to open his eyes, he had to immediately closed it because the light was to powerful for him. But oddly, just for that reason he wanted to cry. "what the f**k? Why I want to cry for something like this?...No, no good, I can't resist I...must cry?!"
For Diggle, a broken arm wasn't something he could cry for normally, but now he start to cry because the light was a little too bright?? Diggle was in deep shame as he's crying.
" Ohh great, he start to cry. Honestly, I start to wonder if it wasn't a miscarriage, but it's seems to be ok" said a female voice. "Yes, I'm glad too" start sob another female voice.
"wait what? No, no no no no ! There's other people with me? And they heard me cry!?!!" shout Diggle in his head. When discovered that, all he wanted at that time was to kill himself. And worst of that, he start to cry louder. When noticed that, he forced himself to stop and succeed only after a couple of minutes. At the same time, he remarked that his voice seems to have changed. It became more, childish. Like he his voice didn't belong to him, but to a baby.
"F**k, what's happening there? How did I do to end up here?! And where am I? What's going on?" internally said Diggle. He tried to recall his last memories before ending there. After a moment he remembered, he died! And he reincarnated, with no more than super powers!
Then something else suddenly struck him and put him in a desperate state " Wait, if I died, then that means I will never know ATG or MGA end?? Nooooooo!!! Briiiiiing me baaaaaaack!!!" (buddy I know how you feel,, but I don't care)
"So, have you decide yet for the name?" asked the first voice. "Yes, Diggle it would be" replied the second voice. "Diggle Troswer then"
After sometimes and Diggle started to calm down from his loose, he began his new life leisurely. Eating, looking around, sleeping. That was his his daily life.
In this life, Diggle's mother was very caring with him, but because of his previous life and his entrust with other, he was very wary of her. For him, the moment, he will miss up in something, he thought that she will left him like his previous mother. So he tried to not have any feeling for her. But in inconsciously, we start to have feeling for her despite his wish of not have any.
After finally going out of the hospital, Diggle learned that he reincarnated in DC's universe and in the most famous city second only to Metropolis, Gotham City! When he learnt that news, he immediately started to plan how to become the most infamous super villan in the city with excitation. Gotham was the city of crimes after all and contrary to Metropolis or Keystone City and Star City, Gotham, didn't possess many heroes and vigilantees.
Apart the Bat family, the only super hero in town was Huntress! But even then, in earth-2, she was Bruce Wayne's daughter so she should be count as half from the Bat family. So let's be honest, we all know that except Bruce, all of them either quit, died or leave the town after a certain point so Gotham never had enough super hero to protect the correctly. That's why Diggle didn't bother to think of being one. Why should he? Even the GCPD of Gotham was corrupted.
All those thoughts were implanted in his head through his knowledge from the comics and his past experience in the criminal way. But fate, sure was playing jokes with him. It's been now a month since Diggle's reincarnation and he only saw his father four times. And every time comes home, her mother always a big sigh of relief like a weight was released from her shoulders. At first, Diggle suspected that they were divorced, but the way her mother always talk about him make him chase away those thoughts. The only information he learnt from her was that the reason of his long absence was because he was protecting them from 'bad guy' apparently. But he still didn't know what was his job. Until the second month of his life.
It was pretty late at noon and Diggle woke up from hunger. He was wondering if he had to shamelessly cry to reclaim his food, when he heard sound of door opening. It was his father, but as he entered the room, Diggle noticed that he was walking oddly. With his experience in fight, Diggle immediately spotted what was wrong, he was injured and pretty badly.
As Diggle noticed his father, the other did as well.
"Oh, son. Shouldn't have woken up to see me like that" said Damien Troswer with a sad expression. "Like you see your father is in quite bad state, haha. Cover missions in the police are a pretty choice, specially in Gotham" thinking that his son didn't understand and because he didn't want to worry his wife more than she already was, he start to talk non-stop. "You know, I should really thanking you. Before I knew Marisa was pregnant, I would still be that old corrupted cop like the others, but like they said being a father changed a man. Now when I look at you and your mother, I don't have that guilty consciousness in my head saying that I don't deserve to be with her. I can now say proudly said to her that I fight crime to reclaim justice. And when you will get older, I want you to will be able to see policemen as heroes and not the people they become today" As Diggle was listening to his father, his resolution to become a villain at the same time as his thinking that nothing can change, everyone is evil in his heart began to quiver.
His father change to do good things because of him! Hearing that, warmth his heart and heal a little the wound in his heart. He didn't change that much, he just started thinking that maybe, just maybe peoples could change.
After that, his father began to apologise for not being here often but justify this by the fact that he was trying to purge this city from evil. But Diggle knew that this was practically impossible. Not mentioning that the Batman didn't appear yet, the city himself hide a heavy past. It says that the creator of the city was a dark sorcerer and when he died, he was buried deep in the the ground of Gotham, spreading his evil aura for the eternity.
So except if they remove the body and destroyed it, the evil will always come back to Gotham.
But nonetheless, Dig admire his father's spirit, secretly hoping that he could proved to his son that evil could change.
Two years passed, and Diggle was now able to speak and walk a little. If we overlooked his lonely attitude, learn to from his past life, Diggle change enormously. He was now more friendly with other and start to put more trust to others, he even made friends with two kids from the neighbourhood. Obviously, he didn't concidere them really like friends but more like a big brother babysitting his two little siblings. And much to his surprise, he enjoyed doing it.
His first friend's name was Mallory Lillian Evans. She was the daughter of her mother's best friend. Dig didn't know why, but she never leave him. Every time they meet, she always followed him. And that didn't gone unnoticed by adults, and because Diggle was more mature than others, her mother keep teasing her about it.
His other friend was Henry Jeffrey, a timid guy. The three of them start to play along all the time. Every thing they do, they do it together. And unknowingly that make Diggle softer and softer. He decides to attend to school like a normal child because of them, even if he'll obviously get maximum marks all the time, but he thinks that this would be fun.
And that continues until two month before Diggle got his Four years. Henry moved to Central City, aka the city of heroes. When they part away, Mallory cry for a very long time. And Diggle was sad for the first time in all his life because of a friend.
Two month later. "Ah, finally! Today I will have super powers!" Shout Diggle in his head. He got up in a very good mood today because of that. Today he will have his party, but it wasn't what he was waiting for. As the day passed, he started to get more and more restless. He was so excited, that for the first time, he acted like a kid and that shocked his parents they were used to see a calm and mature kid who sometimes do naughty jokes. But never did they ever seen him acted like that. At the end of the day, the only one who stayed, was Mallory, because her parents were going to a trip, she had planned to sleep there with her parents accord. As she and Diggle were in the kitchen to eat snacks, a voice suddenly resound in Dig's head.
<<THE REINCARNATED, WILL BE GIVEN HIS ABILITY IN FIVE MINUTES, PREPARE YOURSELF>>
Hearing that, Dig start to laugh like a madman causing Mallory to be afraid of his health. After assuring her that he ok, Diggle waited with impatience the five minutes to be over. After Five minutes, looking like years, the chocolates suddenly appeared in his hand.
<<AFTER YOU EAT THE THREE CHOCOLATES, YOU WILL HAVE THE NEW ABILITIES PROMISED>>
"Yeees!! but why chocolate?" he asked in his head.
<<I JUST WANTED TO, DON'T LOOK OVER SOMETHING LIKE THAT>>
"And who are you again?"

Because he was exited to have his knew powers he pose the two others chocolates' square and eat the the first one like it was a delicacy from gods. But he didn't felt anything other than the normal taste of a chocolate, but still he didn't thought for second that the voice prank him. But when he was going to take the second square, he noticed that one was missing. "What appended!!??" he unintentionally cried. "Crunch...what's... Crunch...the matter?" asked Mallory as she was eating ladite chocolate. When Diggle saw that, he almost fainted "You...you.eat.my.chocolate???" he said not believing what he was watching. However, no matter how much he wanted it to be a dream, this was reality. "Yes, I saw that you had three and momy said that it's not good to eat to many sugar things because you could get sick so if I eat it, you will not be sick right?"
That explanation blow Diggle's mind "Sick? I should I care getting sick? I want my powers back!!" I thought while glaring at her angrily.
<<UNLUCKY YOU ARE, SHE GOT THE ABILITY TO SEE IN THE FUTURE>>
"What the f**k?!" He cried internally. Now he was really depressed.
After some time, when Diggle regain his ability to talk normally without wanting to cursed her, he explain to Mallory that the chocolate could give her the ability to see the future. Hearing that, Mallory get really happy and hugged him while thanking him for the gift, almost causing him faint from depression.
At night as Diggle was still mourning over his lost ability, a scream sounded in the hole house. Causing every one to wake up. Diggle was the first to get up from his bed and start rushing in the Mallory's room where the scream was coming from. But she opened the door he saw that there was nothing abnormal. "What happened Mallo?" He asked curiously as he approached her. "My, parents....I saw them...They....were...dead" she explains while crying. Hearing that, Diggle confort her, saying that it was just a bad dream, but Mallory objected saying that what she saw was real putting the doubt over Diggle suspecting the possibility of her power. But he quickly brushed it off. And after a few second later, Diggle's parents appeared and when they heard what happened, they called Mallory's parent to reassure her. When she finally heard the voice of her parents, she calm down.
The day after, Diggle's father bring the two kids to eat ice-cream outside, to cheering up Mallory. But as they were going out, Diggle was always mad to have lost a power and was thinking of what doing next. He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice that it was the red light, and when he crossed the street, a car was croosing the road and noticed to late the kid. A the last second a made a sudden change of direction but ending hurting his race in his father path.
When he saw that, Diggle cried to his father to dodge, but it was already to late and the car rammed his father violently. Fortunately, Mallory was out of the range when it's happened, but still, she was in. The first places to see all the event. Not having the time to care about her wellbeing, Diggle run to his father to check his condition, but deep down, maybe because all of this already happened before, he knew that there was no hope for his father. When he arrived by his side and saw that he was still breathing, he shout him name, saying that he'll not die. But even if he was still breathing, it was very weakly. "Son...Huh...Listen to me....Huh." his father said with all his power left. "No no no no!! Don't say it like that, I'll hear you after, you go to the hospital" Cried Diggle, knowing that even his father didn't think that he was going to make it.
"No!... Huh...Listen...to me...huh...there is a moment in a man...life....huh...when they decide... If you want to be.....a....huh...huh...he..ro...or...a villain....My moment.....was...you were born....Huh... Yours didn't... Comes yet.... But... Pro....se....huh....me to...take....Go..d.. Cho..." after saying that, his last breathing was taken away.
All of this so sudden, that nobody had the time get what happened except for Diggle who was experimenting the same nightmare again." Why, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN!!" he cried as tears were flowing to his cheeks.
At noon, as the family was crying over the father's body a policeman appeared at there door to announce them yet another sad news. Mallory's parents where dead. As they returning home the taxi get caught in Shooting between The Maronie's family and the Falcon's family.
That day became the most sad day ever for the three of them.
"Why, why did it become like this again? And why specially my dad at my 4 years?" Diggle kept murmuring for a while now.
<<ACTUALLY, THERE IS A GOOD REASON OF WHY>> Suddenly said the voice inside Diggle's head waking him up from his catatonic state. <<YOU ARE IN THE DC UNIVERSE, HERE THE LAWS ARE DIFFERENTS. WHEN SOMEONE GOT SPECIAL ABILITIES OR HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO UNLOCK ONE, THEY ALL UNDERGOES A TRIAL OF A TRAGEDY. THAT TRIAL WILL DECIDE WHAT KIND OF PERSON THEY WANT TO BE. WHAT SORT OF HERO THEY WANT TO BE, WHAT SORT OF VILLAIN THEY WILL BECOME. FOR THAT, THEY WILL CHOSE THE MOST PAINFUL TRAGEDY FOR THEM SO THEY OLD SELF DIE. AFTER THAT, THEY WILL UNDERGOES A REBIRTH TO UNLOCK THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL>> After hearing the explanation of the voice, Diggle mute himself.
Two weeks later in front a grave at the name of Damien Troswer stood Diggle Troswer with dirt in his hand. "You said to me before you died that the moment of choosing who I will become haven't arrived yet, but the moment you died, that moment cames to me. During 4 years, even if you wasn't there often, I watch how you tried to clean up this city. How you tried to protect us. You proved me wrong, people can change to good. And for that, I will make you the promise to become a great hero like this city never heard of. Soon a dark night will rise from shadow of this city. Using the fear to fight against the evil. When the time will come, I will stood by his side, but not in the dark, but in the light. I promise you dad, that I will try to inspire hopes to citizens when the dark night will inspire fear to the enemy. I am not foolish enough to think that I can change every people heart, but those who knows how listen. To those will have the to listen. To those want to listen. I will be there and try to convince them to join the good side like you did with me. For you, dad, both you. I will become the White Knight of this city."
