Chapter 17

There were a lot of illegal 24-hour outlets in the city, where they would help you launder your money without too many questions, for a certain percentage.

Entering one of these, I quickly threw my bag of cash on the table, and next to it I put a vault of cryptocurrency, which was the size of an ordinary flash drive.

The clerk silently took the money, and then loading it into special counting and verification equipment, began to prepare the replenishment procedure. I was just another person who wanted to hide illegally obtained money. And there were so many like me that we didn't need to have any kind of conversation. Our actions spoke volumes.

The whole procedure took literally fifteen minutes, after which I flew home with an empty bag and almost eight million dollars worth of cryptocurrency.

When I got home, I didn't go to bed. After all, with my new stamina, a few days of wakefulness would have no effect on my productivity. Instead of sleeping, I turned on my computer and started creating a fake lottery site where I would "buy" a lottery ticket and it would be a winning ticket. That way, I could gift Aunt May with money without too much fuss. So that she can pay more attention to herself and not deny herself anything. After all, she won't have any problems with my tuition and maintenance.

When I finished with the website and the lottery ticket layout, it was already six in the morning. So I quickly washed my face and went to the kitchen, where Aunt May was already preparing breakfast.

- Good morning, Aunt May! - I greeted her and then sat down at the table.

- Good morning Peter. You're just in time, I'm almost done. - She replied without turning around, and then just a couple minutes later she put a plate of fried eggs and bacon in front of me.

- So Peter, I hope you'll tell me why you got into a fight. - Aunt May asked her question, sitting down in front of me.

- Well, I didn't want to do it, but I had no choice..." I began my story, starting with Flash's initial lie and ending with the truth being revealed, and that I was now captain of the team, with lots of perks.

- Peter! That's great! - Aunt May got up from her seat, and then came over and squeezed my head in her arms. Which made me feel a rather pleasant softness.

- Peter, remember one thing. You're a man, and men never give themselves away. So next time, do what you think is right. And remember, I'm always on your side. - Aunt May gave me a pat on the head and then sat back down like nothing had happened.

When I was near the school, I saw a police car with Gwen's father, John Stacy, standing next to it.

He nodded at me and then beckoned me over with a wave of his hand.

- Hi Peter, I hope you're okay. - He held out his hand to me.

- Good morning, Captain Stacy. Thank you, I'm fine. - I smiled back.

- Ahh, it's not a good morning, especially after what the now ex-Lieutenant Brown did yesterday. - John Stacy said sullenly, his eyes showing he'd been up all night.

- So why am I here? Unfortunately for me, I was unable to seriously punish them. Lt. Brown got a discharge, and his son Jacob Brown and your classmate Flash Thompson got a month's house arrest each. - he said tiredly.

- Hmm, I didn't know you could commit crimes nowadays and get away with it. - I noted sarcastically.

- Ehhh, normally this wouldn't happen. But as it turns out, these guys are friends with another one of your classmates, whose name is Harry Osborne. And as it happens, they asked him for help, and he went to his father. I don't think I need to tell you how much influence and money his father Norman Osborne has. He called the commissioner and offered to sponsor our department if we'd commute their sentences.

- Well, corruption is rife even in the police force. - I chuckled.

- Well, if something happened to you, money wouldn't help them. But you're fine, and the commissioner cited that. Oh, and you're entitled to a hundred thousand dollars for moral damages. - he handed me a bank check.

- Hmm, it will be good if they think about their behavior and won't bother me anymore. - I took the check and put it in my bag.

- I hope so, too. I'd hate to see the kids foolishly go to jail. I'll see you later Peter, and I hope our next meeting won't be about my work. - John said goodbye and then got in his car and drove off.

- Uh, Harry Osborne. - I started to remember a guy who used to be a friend of mine. Then he joined a bunch of tough guys and started hanging out with them, throwing money around. I tried to talk some sense into him, but this narcissistic idiot thought I was jealous of him, and we got into a fight. More specifically, I beat him up like a child. After that, he stopped talking to me, and he started showing up at school less and less often, always hanging out with the rabble who only wanted money from him.

Putting my thoughts out of my head, I headed to the library to print out a modeled lottery ticket.

It took me about ten minutes, and I was about to head to class, but I decided I'd better skip class today and spend that time studying my body in the lab. I was an excellent student, so I asked for a day off, and then ran to the lab, remembering to put on my makeup and get everything else ready.

An hour later, I was already lying on a special scanner that would scan my entire body for unusualness, while my blood was being analyzed in the analyzer.

- Scan complete! - Finally a sound came from the speaker, and I got up from the special recliner and went to the monitor, where there was a lot of different data. Among which I noticed some rather unusual things.

First of all, my cells were incredibly charged with bioelectricity. Not to say that this was a bad thing, but until I figured out where this was going, it couldn't be called good news.

- And secondly, I had new glands. Which, according to the data, produce pheromones, just like spiders. Apparently, my body is just adapting to it and uncontrollably releasing pheromones that attract females. And since Gwen is the only one with spider powers besides me, she's the most affected. And I'm afraid to imagine what would happen to her if my pheromones went into overdrive. Yeah, and in that case, I think they'd start affecting regular people, too.

But the good thing is, these pheromones weren't just for seducing females, they could also cause mild poisoning. All I had to do was learn how they worked.

Once I was done with the scanner data, I went over to the analyzer. And to my delight, there were no abnormalities or unexpected surprises....
