My mother stared at us for almost three minutes. I couldn't tell what she was thinking or how she was feeling, but I was sure my wolf's display had scared her so much that she seemed to have no choice in the matter.
My wolf had surprised me. I knew Karen was dead serious about leaving, and I felt it. I couldn't believe that she would just want to leave like that after everything. I felt her pain and reluctance, but the woman was just too damn stubborn to give in. It took my raging wolf taking over and her mark burning for her to realise she would stay. I knew she was lying when she said she was only bluffing. I intended to deal with her once I was done with my mother. I intended to teach her a lesson. She had no right to leave. We owned each other, and I am in this till I die.
