Chapitre 34: Chapter 33: An Infatuation At It's Finest

The Bus Stop, Temperance, South Dakota....

True to his word, Brick had been awaiting Layla as she approached the bus stop on her way toward home. He smelled of sweat and dirt upon her approach as he stood beside the bus stop when she arrived. She could see that his hair was slick and his face seemed to hold a good deal of emotion that he'd been struggling with. Normally, he didn't leave his bike behind for very long, but there was something about being out in the wide open country that made him feel a bit more at ease about doing so. Layla stopped in her tracks and he swiftly approached her his grey eyes teeming with something akin to need as he closed the gap between them. The heat had returned and the pull between them insanely magnetic as Layla found her heart racing and her breaths becoming shallow in the wake of his body being so close to hers.

Brick had been in awe of the strange connection they seemed to share and the intensity of longing he felt at being away from her for so long. The three days he'd been in Iowa seemed to have had a tremendous effect on both of them as Layla found herself wrapping her arms around him and their lips crashed together once more in a heated frenzy. Brick let out something of a whimper as he aimed to get control of himself while loving the feeling of the lovely girl's body being pressed against his own.

"W-What's happening to us?" asked Layla when she could finally find the words.

"I don't rightly know." replied Brick. "It's never happened to me before and quite frankly I'm a bit out of my element when it comes to things of this nature."

"Do you think it's because we were separated for so long?" asked Layla recalling how badly she felt when she didn't see him for three whole days.

"Possibly." replied Brick kissing her on top of the head. "With this new sensation it looks like I can't be away from you for very long it seems."

Layla sighed as she leaned her head against Brick's chest, making a mental note of the rough feel of his leather cut and the intoxicating scent of his cologne and natural smell that made her weak in the knees. Brick wasn't in the least immune to her scent either likening it to fresh flowers on a warm spring day due to her honey infused body wash.

Brick ran his fingers through her dark brown locks as he looked down at her once more.

"This thing between you and me...I don't know where it's going and quite frankly I don't want to...but I get the feeling that if we actually spend some time together we won't be so desperate for each other's company in the future." he said coming to a reasonable conclusion about their mutual gravitation toward one another.

"I-I think you may be right." said Layla with another sigh it was clear she'd been exhausted from her shift.

"You look exhausted." observed Brick still holding her close. "Why don't you let me take you home, I can get you to where you wanna go on my bike no problem."

Layla thought about it for a moment. She didn't want to have to wait so long for the bus and endure all the stops along the way but she also didn't know if her father had been home and didn't want to cause an incident with Brick and him.

"I ain't worried about your old man." said Brick making it clean that he was onto her line of thinking. "All I care about is getting you home safe and letting you get some rest."

Layla smiled a bit not at all sure why he cared so much. They still hardly knew each other but it was nice to have someone care enough to worry about her state of exhaustion.

"Alright, but if he's home just be quick about it." she agreed seeing the logic in getting home as soon as possible.

"You wait here." instructed Brick with a grin. "Wouldn't want you to tire yourself out on the walk back to the diner."

Layla nodded in agreement and sat down at the bus stop. Brick took off as fast as lightning, she had barely sat down before he disappeared with little to no effort in terms of putting some distance between the bus stop and the diner. She was equally shocked when he came back tearing down the road on his very impressive and very loud motorcycle. She had never seen anything like it as no one in Temperance was ever skilled enough to ride one, but she'd see a few in movies and television shows over the years, but none were ever as impressive as the one Brick had.

It was an amazing thing, Layla recalled seeing a model similar to his and that it was called the a Harley-Davidson Road King, black in color and the engine was quite loud and impressive. She was especially impressed by the well polished silver chrome on the sides and trimming of the bike.

While most people tried to put their own spin on their wheels, It was clear to Layla that Brick was more than happy to keep his bike classic and spent a good deal of time on the upkeep in his spare time.

"Well, what you waiting for Darlin?" he asked with a smirk. "I've already given you the invitation."

Layla shook her head and climbed onto the back of Brick's bike. It was an odd thing to feel the rumbling of the engine between her thighs and the closeness to Brick himself as she was instructed to wrap her arms around his waist for support. He still smelled incredible and the leather cut only made it all the more appealing in a sense to be on the back of his bike. She had known that bikers often referred to as "riding bitch" and was slightly as amused as Brick was that she'd been doing so. Of course, she had not known that she was the first girl he'd ever had riding on his bike in all the years he'd owned one.

As he took off, the wind in her hair had been a welcome feeling along with the rumbling of the engine and the tight grip she had about his waist so as not to fall off although she secretly suspected that she would have been fine with being this close to him without the added danger of falling off the bike. She liked the way he seemed to take charge of everything but not be overbearing and crass in his manner when he did so. He was reasonable enough and fancied himself a comedian to boot. She supposed if she was going to be drawn rather inexplicably to an older man, Brick was as best a choice as she could get with those odds.

Brick and Layla continued to speed down the long and winding highway in companionable silence mostly due to the bugs and the wind making it difficult to hear or speak. Still, Layla found that she had rather enjoyed the rush that came from barreling down the road at speeds unmatched by any means of transportation she had ever experienced before hand.

Perhaps, her growing feelings for the likes of Marrok Kenneally wasn't such a bad thing after all.
