There was soft rustling inside the bedroom as Beth gathered warm clothes from the closet. Her eyes carefully scanned through each garment, assessing their thickness to find ones that would be best for the chilly morning. When she soon found the best outfit, she gently pulled it out, holding it close as she hurried to where Mikael waited in the guest area near the warm fireplace.
Mikael stood by the window, gazing out at the sky as it readied itself for winter. Above, the clouds stretched, blanketing the entire horizon like a whole canvas of white and gray, dense and draping low, obviously filled with snow.
His gaze fell on the landscape below, where the city stood. Soon, everything would be dusted with the first fall of snow, covering them with a layer of pure white mantle.
"My lord," Beth called.
Mikael turned, his arms crossed as he faced Beth, who approached cradling a dress in her arms.
