ARIANNE POV
I stood at the edge of the arena, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched Caeden pass out in exhaustion after completing the shifting process. Time seemed to slow down as the events unfolded before me, the world around me fading into a blur as I focused on the still form of my son lying on the ground.
Without hesitation, I sprang into action, my instincts taking over as I rushed forward to protect Caeden, my son. I could see some of the guards moving towards him, their intentions unclear in the chaos that surrounded us. But I was faster, reaching my son before anyone else could lay a hand on him.
I knelt beside him, my arms trembling as I lifted his pale body into my embrace. "Caeden," I called out, my voice filled with panic and fear. But he didn't stir, his eyes closed and his breathing shallow. The weight of his limp body in my arms was a stark reminder of the fragility of life, and a surge of protectiveness washed over me.
