Chapitre 2: World Record

John Smith was a sad, sad guy. Dude spent all his free time playing games. All the times his classmates asked him to join them outside and spend his time like a normal teenager. But no, he needs to continue his grind so that he doesn't fall behind in ranked League of Conquerors.

Setting: High School. Last period.

[Bell Rings]

"Yo John, wanna come join us for soccer?"

"Nah, I have a lot of homework today. Maybe next time."

"Bro. You've been saying for the last 3 months. Stop spending all your time on games, it's not healthy man. You sure you're not coming?"

"I'm sorry. I really do want to join you guys, but my Algebra[2] teacher just dropped mad homework today to help us prep for the test. I'll definitely join you guys next time."

"You promise?"

"I promise. See you."

"See you too bro."

As John walks outside he squints his eyes. His eyes are so used to the artificial light produced by a computer that his eyes hurt if he stays outside for long periods of time. He walks home. As John logs onto League of Conquerors, an interesting thought comes up into his head, should he attempt to break the world record for the longest gaming binge in one sitting? This thought keeps bugging him for the rest of the day.

"John, you're finally on. While you were offline our ranks dropped back into the 500s bro.", says Hyperx, an online friend of John's.

"Damn. Those bastards were grinding all night... I only get to play a few hrs a day while they get to grind 24/7... At this rate, I'll never enter the top hundreds.", says John.

"Don't get discouraged boi. We can't let those tryhards beat us in our own game.", says Hyperx.

"But we barely have time to play...", says John.

"So what mate. We are the gods of grinding. We are the only two people on the top 500s that actually have a life outside this game.", said Hyperx.

"True...[Even his friends his online friends have a life unlike him.] You know, I was thinking about attempting to break the longest gaming binge record.", said, John.

"I don't know man. The world record is 147hrs... That's quite insane. Not to mention today's monday. We still have school tomorrow.", said Hyperx.

"So what. School isn't that fun anyway. My teachers keep piling tons of work on me. Last time I checked, gamers don't need to know how to do chemistry or algebra 2. If only I could drop out...", said, John.

"Relax bro. There's still a good chance we might not make it into the big stage. The competition is huge. Nearly all the top 1000 players are Asian... Not to mention, the top 3 players are all korean... We should probably have a backup. Otherwise, we'll end up being McDonald's employees.", says Hyperx.

"Yea right. With my skill level, it's only a matter of time before I reach the top echelons in this game. By the way, I really am gonna attempt to break the world record today. Missing a few days in school ain't going to affect my grades anyway.[His grades are shit]", said John.

"Alright... Let's get some stars boi!", said Hyperx.

John and 'friend' Hyperx continue to grind on ranked. 6 hours later...

"I gotta go bro. I don't wanna be sleepy again in my algebra class.", said Hyperx.

"Alright, see you. I'mma play a little bit longer.", said, John.

"Please don't try to break the world record man. The fact that man is still alive after 147hrs of constant gaming is a miracle. You're gonna die if you try to do that... I can't talk anymore, my mom's yelling at me. Bye.", said Hyperx.

"Alright bye.", said, John.

John continues on to grind. The next day Hyperx gets on to find that John was already on.

"Yo, John. How come you're online so early lol? Didn't you go to school?", asked Hyperx.

"Nuh. I've been grinding since yesterday. I'm actually on a 53 win streak right now.", said, John.

"Dam. 53 win streak?! Wait... You've been grinding since yesterday? Don't tell me you're actually attempting to break the world record?", asked Hyperx.

"Relax dude. Breaking 147hrs will be easy. Let's play already.", said, John.

"Alright... But please if you feel uncomfortable at any point stop playing and take a break k?", asked Hyperx.

"Sure, sure. Let's play already boi.", said, John.

And so John and Hyperx continue to grind ranked. It's been a week since John started his grind, He finally beat the world record. But now he's on a 500+plus win streak. Hyperx can't seem to get John to get off the game whatsoever. John is way to energized. Hyperx seems to be worried about John's condition. But then again being the retard John is, he ignores Hyperx.
