Soft sniffles were the only sound she could hear in the house. The silence was eerie. She hated how lonely she felt without him.

Esmeralda was sleeping peacefully in her bed unaware of her mother's state. Arya watched her baby and felt envious.

She wished she still had the innocence of a child. That obliviousness that comes with the vulnerability. Depending on the adults for everything.

Depending? Her heart ached. In this sense, she was no different from Esmeralda. For the past two years, she had been depending on Levi for every aspect of her life.

She needed his constant reassurance to feel beautiful. Needed his presence to feel safe and had his warmth to feel alive. She was dead before meeting him.

He had somehow managed to bring her back to life. Many would disagree that she wasn't. Death? It came in many forms. For her, she had been a living death up until Levi took her in.
