"Finally," Rei dipped in the water, sitting in the jacuzzi, running her eyes over Aurum's body who seemed tired, "I thought you were going to keep going until one of us was dead."
"Sorry," Aurum apologised. He watched her with a smile, "I missed you two that much."
"You were barely gone for a day," Rei rolled her eyes, not believing a word of it until Saya who was already blushing having believed his every word, 'that one…she's far too gone.'
"It was a day for you. For me, it has been months."
"What?" Saya jerked back. She wanted to scream at him for spouting nonsense, but she held back, only to feel his lips against her cheek.
"I like your annoying self. No need to hold back," Aurum whispered to her, making her blush as her eyes raised.
"Then! What nonsense are you talking about now!" Saya screamed in his ear, forcing him to grab her face and push her away.
"I'll tell you later. If she doesn't act surprised, her boyfriend might notice something," Aurum covered his face, "what am I even doing? I shouldn't even be looking towards you."
"You are an asshole who didn't even let his little sister off. Just accept that and move on," Rei whispered, looking away from him.
"Don't be a bitch when you know you are worse," Saya retorted.
"I know I am worse than him! I never said I am not!"
"Shut up already," Aurum scratched his cheek, "ah, whatever. Let's go home."
Near Takagi Estate,
"Saeko! Behind you!"
Saeko pivoted on her foot, swiping her blade to separate the neck of the zombie from its body. She watched the head roll to the side before slashing her blade downwards causing the blood to splash on the ground, "That was the last one?"
"Let's hope so. I am running low on bullets."
Eve looked towards the other purple haired woman, donned in military clothes, wearing a bullet-proof vest, "then should we go back?"
At first, the two of them planned to come alone, but they got caught by Shizuka-Sensei and Kyoko-Sensei, both of whom wouldn't let them go alone. The argument ensued, as a result, Yuriko heard them and realised what they were planning.
"Here, Yuriko-san," Kyoko-sensei took the empty magazine, preparing to fill it while passing two more magazines to Yuriko, who thanked her.
"No, something feels wrong here," Yuriko surveyed her surroundings, there were few zombies, and those two were weak, "Zombies have grown stronger everywhere. But the surrounding seems to be lacking any strong zombie."
Yuriko frowned, letting out a sigh, "Eve, go back with Saeko. I'll have to call the soldiers to search our surrounding."
"I won't," Eve shook her head, "Even if you called all those soldiers. Saeko and I can do more than all of them combined. Please don't be so worried about me?"
"I am more worried about what your brother would do if anything happened to you."
Eve chuckled, "Don't worry. Even if something happened to me, brother won't pick a fight with you. Please trust me. I can take care of myself."
"I'll protect her," Saeko stood beside Eve, keeping an eye on their surroundings as she put her finger on her lip, gesturing others to stay silent. She closed her eyes, using her enhanced senses to keep an eye on everything around her. She could feel it, her heart beating with every step it took. The step was heavy, coming closer, and then the wind hit her. She backed away in an instant, twisting to slash in a smooth motion, when she heard a loud clank.
"Wha—" Saeko backed away, taking in the sight of the greyish zombie. It stood towering above her. Its muscles buffed. Its eyes blank. With that bulking size, it had to be slow, but it dashed towards her, covering the distance between them in an instant, swiping its hand across.
"Saeko!!"
Saeko heard the sound of bullets that passed from near her, slamming into the zombie, only managing to stagger it for a moment. The bullets barely pierced its skin. It brushed off the bullets, standing straight, waiting for a single sound that gaze away its prey. There was the sound of a magazine sliding down but, in this silence, it might as well be the sound of a bell.
The grey zombie walked towards the sound, and the moment it heard the click, it pounced, only to feel a sharp blade reaching for its neck. It tried to back away, but not with enough time. The blade sliced through his neck like a knife through butter.
Saeko stood on top of its falling body, holding her Katana. There was blood on her blade, making the invisible blade that covered her katana's blade become visible. She swung it, splashing the blood before putting her Katana in the scabbard.
"That was your ability?"
"Invisible Blade," Saeko pressed her lips, "I don't like using it. Since this just means I am lacking the skill to kill it on my own."
"You think too much," Eve knelt beside the body, poking it, "What is this? It's totally different. Its skin is hard enough to block conventional weapons."
"An ability," Yuriko rubbed her forehead, "its simple ability, but with its strength and powers, the soldiers won't be able to fight against it."
As she was talking, the zombie's body started to disappear, leaving behind a pair of gauntlets, making them raise their eyebrows, "a weapon."
A weapon drop was as rare as a skillbook drop. The stronger the zombie, the stronger the weapons they dropped, far more than conventional weapons. Saeko picked up the gauntlet when her senses caught onto something. She darted her eyes around, "We need to leave. Right now. Take the long route back to the Estate."
She backed away towards the car, gesturing them to act faster. Eve and Yuriko started moving towards the car, looking around when their heart nearly stopped, seeing another grey zombie appeared from around the corner. The two of them sat down, pushing the lazing Shizuka, "Drive! Drive! Drive!!!"
"Don't shout at me!" Shizuka turned the keys, looking towards the zombie as she pushed her feet down on the accelerator. The car shot forward. They could hear the heavy footstep of the zombie running after them, making their heart palpitate with dread. Yuriko opened the window, "Keep driving!!"
She raised her body, going out of the window as she pointed her gun towards the zombie running towards them, not letting up even for a moment. She pulled the trigger, but the bullet didn't come out, instead, the whole gun started shaking until she shouted, "Charged SHOT!"
She winced in pain from the gun exploding in her hand as she fired the beam of light that left her gun, hitting the zombie right in the face, leaving behind a big hole in its face as it travelled towards the sky, disappearing in the horizon.
"Oh, no! Marikawa-sensei!" Kyoko called out to Shizuka, who drifted, stopping the car.
"Show me!" Shizuka took Yuriko's palm in hers, slowly rubbing it, "Pain, pain, go away. Pain, pain, go away."
Yuriko felt the pain disappearing, seeing her skin wriggle as the burst skin started to drop. She looked at Shizuka with a troubled gaze, "Shizuka-sensei. DO you have to say that?"
"How will you heal if I don't," Shizuka muttered as a matter of fact, making Yuriko feel like a child.
"Shizuka-sensei, this much is enough. We should keep moving," Saeko hurried her. Not that she wasn't worried about Yuriko's injury, but she still felt a sense of danger around them.
Eve looked out the window, staring towards the big blue sky, "Oh, the drop!"
"No! Don't go out!" Kyoko tried to hold Eve, whose hand slipped from between her fingers as she stepped out of the car.
"What is she doing?" Saeko slammed the door open, getting out from the other side, darting her eyes around to see for any other zombie when her eyes went wide. She jerked her head, towards Eve who was kneeling to pick the book that the zombie dropped only to find one of those towering zombies that came from around the corner, "Eve!"
"It's ok," Eve murmured, picking up the skillbook with a loving smile on her face. She looked towards the zombie with her eyes filled in anticipation, watching its hand reach out for her, when a booted foot planted on its face, shoving it down towards its side until his head hit floor, getting squashed. She followed the leg, seeing the man in cargo pants, wearing the turtleneck, his spiky blonde hair framing his face, his crystal blue eyes looking towards the zombie, his body covered in blue and red lightning that crashed down on the zombie, killing it.
"That was so—" Eve stopped in the middle of the sentence, feeling a palm wrapped around her face, making her blink with a smile when he tightened his grip, filling her with pain, "Big brother~!"
"What do you think you are doing risking your life?" Aurum lifted her up, causing her feet to swing in the air as she tried to find some solid ground, grabbing on his wrist.
"But! Big brother would have left for Takagi Estate if I didn't do," she raised her voice, nibbling her lip. He finally put her on the ground and she looked at him with the gap between his fingers, "I just…had to see big brother right now. And I knew big brother would have saved me."
'Oh, it was right in front of me,' Aurum slowly moved his palm away, stroking her cheek rubbing his thumb over the side of her nose that he flattened. She took her fingers in his, slowly holding his palm. He ignored the screaming voices in his head, ignoring all his impulses to run her over with all the affection he was holding inside, 'I was thinking too broad. I have the Time. The Past. She has powers related to the Future.'
'Although, she hid that part like forever…why tell me,' Aurum pulled on her cheeks, squeezing them, pulling them since this was the most he could do to punish her, "You saw it. I was planning to explain to others, but whatever."
Eve nibbled her lip, pressing her face against his chest, circling her arm around his waist, snuggling into his arms, "Let's not talk. Let's stay like this."
"Ok," Aurum softly smiled, stroking her hair as he slowly nodded towards Saeko when Eve pulled his cheek, still her head buried in his neck.
"Don't look towards other women during our reunion!"
'But Eve…if I don't do that…then I won't be able to hold myself back any longer,' Aurum smelled her scent, kissing her silky hair, "Let's go."
"Yeah."
[About the numbering. Only my buy me a coffee page it is numbered as Chapter 32. If I corrected it here, then I would have to renumber 30 to 40 chapters on the page. So, I am skipping 31.]
