Synopsis
Five hundred million years ago, an epoch of extraordinarily fast evolution and mutation took place. It is said that all ancestors of today’s species on Earth derive from those that appeared in the “Cambrian Period”.
Unfortunately, nothing gold can stay. After the brief “Cambrian Period”, life on Earth entered a period of stagnation. Humans came out on top, becoming the most powerful species on Earth.
A second age has come.
During the first “Cambrian Period” humanity was kicked off of the throne of the food chain quickly. Now, during the second “Cambrian Period”, what will happen to humanity?
The real end of the world is not the tale of brainless zombies.
It is paradise.

Écrire un avisSigh , the translation speed of this novel is such a torture . 1 chapter per week ? Smh . zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZ
This a survival novel to those who have not put the clues together. Male hero doing his best to survive in a brave new world where modern humanity has been threatened for the first time since they were cavemen. Animals and plants throughout the world quickly evolved in a matter days due to a major event and have become extremely dangerous. There are two novels with this EXACT PREMISE on this site. One is Global Evolution and the other is Epoch of Twilight. The only the major difference between the two is that Epoch of Twilight incorporates game elements (stats and points, leveling up) and is more contains more mature themes (you know what I'm talking about). I honestly believe that global evolution is the better of the two by far. It is much more well developed in terms of characters and world background. But as a whole they're both average novels in my mind. Nothing truly special about them like other novels qidian has (ISSTH, AWE, Sacred Ruins). Makes me wonder about the "taste" that qidian international's higher staff have to choose this stuff for their global audience.
*sigh* why did this translation stopped? I mean, just 1 chapter are still acceptable for me. at least, let the translator finish the story. Dear, Qidian big boss please let the translator continue this story even if it's not in this website.
Love the story! I just wish it would update more than 1 short chapter a week! Fillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllller fillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllller
This novel was canceled? Because this long stop, this novel is very good a pity that has been abandoned! She remembers very "Epoch of Twilight" but with its originalities, the characters are cool because each one has a certain difference. The MC is not totally op, which is very good, the only problem of this novel is the staff that is a trash, and abandoned the novel after a long time of low frequency of newness.
In this novel it showcases a post apocalyptic world that doesn't involve zombies or radiation killing everything, but instead constant evolution. This evolution creates many chanfes in the world that they live in cause them to fight for survival as they progress throughout this world, fighting evolved organisms such as dogs, cats, trees and fishes as they try to match the speed at which non-humans evolve by using their smarts and wits. Overall the story does a really good job in telling you about the hell that you would have to live in. It shows the graphic scenary of people getting their head pulled off, losing half of their face or having holes penetrate their skin. It has the survival scenes and it also has a point in it where they start to situate them selves in a society and it shows how society would change if an apocalypse happened. This story deserves a lot more in term of readers. The translators did an amazing job in keeping this going and providing a very high quality tranlation. I suggest reading it because sometimes you need a break from cultivation stories.
Don't start reading it, it's useless. Dropped for more than a year without any updates.. One more novel killed by qidian. One more novel killed by qidian.
This is a pretty standard survival vs surprise evolution story. Unfortunately, it's slow and dry. In the beginning, there is at least one or more plot holes per chapter. The MC is so dumb, I nearly dropped the series several times in the beginning, but he suddenly becomes intelligent around chapter 25... That said, he really needs to quit trying to ingest formalin. Note: The intelligence is short-lived. Although the MC appears like he's supposed to be a character with morality, he only acts that way on screen. Off screen, he appears to be very inconsiderate to his supposed comrades and friends and doesn't give them the vital information they may need to survive. For example, he does not warn his friends about where he encounters deadly things, so they are completely unaware of it when they walk into the same traps he did. I'm not sure if he's a fake good guy, if he is just oblivious and forgot about this life-saving details, or if this is just an example of poor writing. Furthermore, the MC starts smoking tobacco as soon as the apocalypse starts. Since the apocalypse isn't horrible enough, apparently he wants to give himself nicotine cravings on top of it? There is no logic here. There isn't much character depth, and the strength of their bonds does not come across well. The other characters are relatively flat, although they have consistent characterization. However, "smart" characters are not smart--they may be even less intelligent than the protagonist. If one of them is smart enough to design a certain plan or trap, why should he or she assume another person can’t? Their combat strategies are weak and full of pomp, and they don't plan things out well at all. They are only considered "smart" because they can modify organisms, and the writer did not demonstrate any good examples of their intelligence in action. They have observation skills, but their strategy and planning is so weak, this evens out their IQ to something around average. None of the characters are particularly likable or unlikable. They're all forgettable. There are numerous inconsistencies, especially about who knows what, where one character is, and what characters are up to. In the beginning, there is even a gun that is never mentioned again and disappears from the plot without any explanation. Characters also disappear and reappear several chapters later like they'd been there the whole time. The writing is lacking, and the pacing is off. The action scenes are too abrupt and don’t let don't let the readers feel much excitement. Overall, the intensity, suspense, and action could be much better. The strongest part of this series is the setting. Just make sure to turn off any knowledge of science before diving in. Although the translations are good, there are distracting grammar errors often enough to lower my evaluation on that point. There is also inconsistency between whether pounds or kilograms are used, and it'd be nice if the translation and editing team just picked one. The Chinese names got flipped, which feels awkward to me since I automatically assumed the characters were named with their family names followed by their given names like everything else on this site and other Chinese web novel translation sites. I kept wondering why they normally addressed one character by his surname or as mister with his given name rather than his surname.... It looks like the author had a lot of ambition with this series but not enough scientific knowledge to make it believable (It's okay if no one understands how it works or if it's fantasy--just don't make fake science!). This is a huge turn-off. It also looks like the author planned to make this a heart-rendering, action/drama series, but he or she was unsuccessful on all fronts. If you want an mild survival series to waste some time on, this is an option. I just don't recommend it for anyone looking for something to get his or her heart pumping.
The story is very good, with characters with original personalities and the MC is not as protected by Plot Armor as in other stories. But unhappily the translation stopped out of nowhere and without any warning, and so far after more than a year without new chapter releases, we did not receive from Quidian even a note of apology or the reason for abandonment, so we ran out of hope to receive a new translator. With this, it is with great pain that I take back this wonderful story from my library.
Is it worth reading even though it will have only a small amount of chapters for a long time? It sounds like a good book but with only 140 chapters and only 1 chapter a week it doesn't seem worth it?
2 years ago it was 120 chapters released. 1 year ago there were 146 chapters released. Now it's still 146 chapters. So until 1 year ago it was 20 chaps/YEAR and now it's 0?
just love this novel.....❤❤❤❤❤...new novel alert ahhhhhh......i love that it takes place in modern times...ahhh❤❤❤❤❤..it kinda reminds me of monster evolution

I really like this book. Why did it have to stop, why in the hell? I keep voting for this book almost daily in hopes that they will pick it back up. Hopefully someone else is voting for it too.
Great till the point you reach the last chapter and see the 1/ch per week then god knows how many chair/desks/windows and other items you break
This is a good one. Add more chapter every week !! Thank you Add more chapter every week !! Thank you Add more chapter every week !! Thank you ^_^
A very scientific, yet interesting take on a apocalypse. The red mist, rapid evolution, how the world falls apart, and daily struggles to survive are sll so real. No grand super powers, yet fights are exciting. Translation quality is also great.
Hi Guys, This is Jello (the editor of the novel) so I'll try and keep my review honest and somewhat objective. If you're looking for a survival/sci-fi story, look no further! This novel is unique. I can honestly say that the characters, world, and plot are like no other. Although I have not read much farther than you guys (I don't read/speak Chinese), I would definitely suggest for anyone to read the novel. All cliches are broken, and there really is no trope that this novel uses. Each chapter is filled with emotional character development, gruesome scenes of survival, and, although fictional, realistic plot buildup. Concerning update rate, as I'm still a full-time student, the chapter per week should stay around the same for this year. However, coming September or October next year, I hope my rate of editing will increase so that we can dish out more chapters! Be ready to encounter death, friendships, betrayals, and so much more! Hope you guys give us a review and a shot!
