Chapitre 3: Chapter 3: Quarrel

The purpose of this trip was to accumulate recognition points, so Jon must be careful about his approach. Just standing up and speaking dryly to others would easily make others think that there was something wrong with his brain, and it would be difficult for others to have an objective understanding of his situation, let alone gain recognition.

"Jon, are you still going to eat those mushrooms?"

This time, the dinner included Grenn's favorite mushrooms, but Jon didn't like mushrooms, so he would ask Jon for some every time.

Jon glanced at Grenn, and suddenly a plan came to his mind. He asked Grenn, "Grenn, do you think I am a deserter?"

Grenn was a little surprised when he arrived, thinking that Jon had changed his mind, so he said quickly: "Of course, if ten people hear about it, nine will think you want to be a deserter. Besides, who hasn't..."

Who knew that before Grenn could finish his words, Jon stood up excitedly, glared at him and shouted, "Who is a deserter! Who the hell do you say is a deserter!"

His voice was so loud that everyone in the bar looked at the two of them.

Grenn was at a loss for what to do when faced with Jon's sudden, neurotic rage: "I didn't say you were a deserter, did I?"

Grenn answered timidly, his eyes full of confusion. He tried hard to recall what he had said wrong. The grievance on his face seemed to be about to burst out, and Jon couldn't bear to see it.

But he had no choice. If he could not leave the Great Wall smoothly, many people, including Grenn, would die in the battle with the barbarians.

So Jon hardened his heart and stared at his forehead, which was the most stressful part. At the same time, he was still relentless, as if he didn't hear what he said, and continued to roar loudly: "I ask you! Who do you say is a deserter!"

Grenn plucked up the courage to raise his voice: "I didn't say you were a deserter."

Jon seized the opportunity and said in a voice that everyone could hear clearly: "I am not a criminal! I have not taken any oath! I can leave if I want! I am not a deserter!"

He wanted to take this opportunity to let others know his objective situation so as to win more recognition points.

But Grenn really didn't understand what Jon was going on about. In fact, he was a little afraid of Jon, but he still gritted his teeth, slammed the table, stood up and shouted back: "I didn't say you were a deserter! No!"

Grenn looked down at Jon and found that this usually gentle face now looked particularly hideous and strange.

Dennis, who was sitting at the top, recognized that Grenn and Jon were new recruits, so he winked at the old bark Tony who brought them over. Tony immediately threw the cup in his hand at Jon and Grenn who were arguing.

"Get out of here!"

His shout silenced Jon and Grenn, and they walked away quickly, one after the other. The Night's Watch soldiers sitting near the door watched them pass by excitedly. After all, it was not easy to find some fun in this snowy place.

Because they heard the word "deserter", as soon as the two of them went out, a soldier stationed in the Shadow Tower asked the soldiers escorting supplies what was going on.

After Dennis apologized, Tony personally explained Jon's situation to him.

Dennis was not surprised after hearing this. After all, Jon was not very old, and it was normal for him to change his mind after arriving at the Wall. Although he was an illegitimate child, he had lived an aristocratic life before, so it was not surprising that there was a sudden gap.

However, situations like Jon's, where there was neither an oath nor atonement, had rarely occurred, so Dennis curiously asked how Jeor handled it. After getting the answer, Dennis remained silent. The situation on the Wall was indeed not good. The increasingly active wildlings and the occasional rumors about the White Walkers made people very uneasy.

When he was about to finish the food on the plate, he let out a long sigh and said

"Alliser's martial arts are pretty good. I've fought him before, but he's a bit insidious."

As the champion of the tournament, the first half of Dennis's sentence was a recognition of Alliser's martial arts, and the second half was an evaluation of his character.

After learning the whole story, the other people in the Shadow Tower became more interested and asked the people who came to tell them the result when the time comes.

"I bet twenty bronze stars that the boy can't get away!"

"Then I'll bet ten bronze stars that the boy can get away!"

A group of people joined in the betting, and the scene became lively again.

The night watchmen in this place have nowhere to spend their wages, and living here for a long time has made them very indifferent to money.

In order to make the little military pay in their hands flow, they would make a bet on basically everything. Maybe it was a bet on how many times Dennis urinated at night, or maybe it was a bet on how many eggs the maester's raven laid. In short, they bet on everything. For a bet like Jon's, which only happens once in a century, naturally they would bet big.

"I bet five silver deer that the boy can get away!"

A soldier with a big mouth and big eyes shouted and took out a few silver coins that had been polished to a patina.

A soldier next to him saw it and said quickly: "Penser, even if the money can't be spent, it doesn't have to be wasted! Some time ago, Alliser could beat five of us with one hand, let alone a new soldier!"

Unexpectedly, the soldier named Pengser said nonchalantly: "I just want to have some excitement!"

...

After leaving the wine hall, Grenn followed Jon angrily. He didn't know what was wrong with this guy. Just when he was about to speak, Jon turned around and said calmly, "Grenn, I was wrong today. I did this for a reason. I can't tell you why for now, but I hope you don't blame me. I'm going to save people, many, many people."

Jon's mood changes were so great that Grenn was confused and couldn't understand what he was saying.

Jon continued to speak to himself, "By the way, a timid fat man will come here in a while. Please introduce him to Maester Aemon for me. He needs a literate person to be his assistant."

But Grenn didn't hear what Jon was saying at all. He just snorted and left angrily.

"well--"

Jon sighed. When he first came here, it was Grenn who always cared about him and made him less frightened, but at this moment he felt very lonely.

Jon closed his eyes, and the string of characters reappeared.

[Agreement Point (Leaving the Great Wall): 33/40]

There were actually more than ten people out of more than two hundred people who agreed with him. Jon couldn't help but feel a little relieved. He only had a few points of agreement left before he could draw the lottery.

At night, as a punishment, Jon and Grenn were assigned to stand guard. Because the Shadow Tower was built in a canyon, the wind was particularly strong at night. The next day, Jon felt his hands and feet were numb from the cold. When he returned, he walked for a long time before he felt better.

Meanwhile in the Black Castle, Jeor also found it difficult to understand why Jon took the initiative to ask to escort the supplies. He had thought that Jon wanted to take the opportunity to escape, but reason told him that this was unlikely.

But I'm afraid Jon will do something stupid. After all, his identity is too sensitive. It will be troublesome if he is identified as a deserter.

Guessing that the team escorting supplies would soon return, he ordered his squire to see if Jon was still in the team.

However, when Alliser received the news, he actually hoped that Jon was really a deserter, so that he could kill Jon with a legitimate reason.

After all, if it hadn't been for Stark, he might still be living comfortably as a noble lord, with girls washing his feet and warming his bed every night, instead of being in this hellhole like now.

Because Jon maliciously provoked the quarrel, Grenn did not walk with Jon on the way back. He deliberately kept a long distance between them.

Everyone set out a little late, so when the team returned to Castle Black, it was already dark. Jeor was relieved after the people he sent told him that everything was normal.

As for Elisa, although he felt a little regretful, he felt very excited when he thought that the next day would be the day for him to take action.

At night, when everyone had rested, Jon took another look and found that he was still two points short of the recognition point. This made him feel a little uneasy. If he still had not accumulated enough recognition points by the time he and Alliser dueled tomorrow, then he would be in danger.

Jon thought hard, hoping to learn some tricks from this body's original memory that would allow him to defeat the strong with the weak.

But no matter how hard I thought about it, there was still no solution.

The 'original' Jon is a man with a talent for swordsmanship, and he is also very hardworking, so his swordsmanship is top-notch among his peers.

But for a veteran swordsman like Elisa, who had won places in martial arts tournaments, the difference in strength between them was no less than the difference between a professional and an amateur.

Jon's only advantage is the physical strength he developed when he was in Winterfell.

"Wait, who said swords are required in a duel?"

Jon suddenly remembered that he had learned a wrestling move called 'ground grapple. As long as he could knock Alliser down, wouldn't he win?

He quietly got up, put on his clothes, then left the room and went to the training ground.

Jon looked at the wooden dummy not far from him, suddenly lowered his body, and took a big step forward on one knee.

He then changed to the other leg and pounced over the distance of three or four meters in almost an instant.

He picked up the wooden stake weighing nearly two hundred pounds, stood up suddenly, and then threw it heavily to the ground.

'My body has been strengthened!'

Jon looked at his hands in surprise. Anyway, no one would wear armor during the competition tomorrow, and Alliser definitely didn't weigh more than 200 pounds.

If I can knock him down, I will win.

After practicing it for another two hours, Jon became more and more proficient in this move.

But a new problem arises before me, which is how to get close to him quickly?

After all, during the duel, both of them were holding swords. Wouldn't it be too funny if I got chopped as soon as I rushed in front of him?

You should know that this move requires you to approach the enemy in a posture close to sliding and kneeling. When holding a sword, this move is unlikely to work as long as you are on guard.

It was already late at night, and Jon knew that he had to recover as much strength as possible, so he came to the restaurant early so that he could lie down on a bench and rest.

Grenn, who was standing at the corner, glanced at Jon and shook his head helplessly.
