Chapitre 3: Chapter 3

After the canonization ceremony, Margaery left.

Leaving behind an eerie silence in the already empty knight hall.

Even Dickon was forcefully driven away by his father, leaving only Earl Randyll and Samwell Caesar. The two stood there in complete silence, their eyes fixed on each other.

The atmosphere was thick with tension, and the stagnant air added to the intensity of the moment.

Eager to study his own attribute panel, Samwell took the lead and spoke, "Father, should we depart or is there anything you need to say?"

Earl Randyll looked at his eldest son and suddenly said, "You hate me." Without waiting for Samwell to respond, he continued, "You don't have to argue, because I don't care."

This caused Samwell's mouth to twitch at the corner, and he fell silent.

Earl Randyll's gaze lingered on his peculiar son, his heart filled with inexplicable emotions. However, he maintained his cold tone and spoke, "If a hunter returns empty-handed, his family will starve. If a lord is defeated, his people will be slaughtered , and the castle will be burned. For thousands of years, countless families in Westeros have disappeared into the long river of time, simply because of a cowardly and inept heir. The Tarly family on the frontier needs a man who can wield the [Heartsbane], a lord who can kill the enemy. You aren't even qualified to touch it."

He continued, "No matter how much you may hate me, I won't hand over the fate of our family to you."

Samwell listened in silence, feeling overwhelmed in his heart but without much resentment. The original owner of this body did not meet Earl Randall's expectations for an heir, and although he had tried to change things after transmigration , it was too late. However, those were all in the past now.

After the canonization ceremony, he had changed his surname to Caesar, and from that point forward, anything related to the Tarly family has nothing to do with him.

At that moment, Earl Randyll unexpectedly tossed something at his son. Samwell reacted swiftly, catching the object, and upon looking down, he realized it was a large bag filled with Golden Dragon Coins!

Earl Randyll calmly explained, "Since you have voluntarily renounced your right to inherit, this is what you deserve."

"Thank you, father!" Samwell replied gratefully, recognizing that he was in need of funds to further his development.

"In addition," Earl Randyll continued, "before we depart, I personally took care of your equestrian teacher, James."

Samwell was initially taken aback by his father's revelation, but then he realized that this James was likely responsible for the "black hand" incident where he fell from his horse the last time. His father had discovered James' wrongdoing and had taken action by killing him.

"No matter how incompetent you are, you are still the eldest son of the Tarly family! Even if someone were to judge you, I should do it myself!" Earl Randyll declared, exhibiting his trademark dominance.

With a mixture of emotions in his heart, Samwell lowered his head and remained silent.

In any case, Samwell felt a sense of closure now that his father had avenged him. After a moment of silence, Earl Randall spoke again:

"Sam, do you still remember our family's words?"

Samwell nodded, reciting the familiar phrase: "First in Battle."

It was clear that Earl Randyll was determined to replace his heir. It was unlikely that the previous owner of Samwell's body had forgotten the Tarly family's motto.

Earl Randyll's face softened slightly as he spoke, "Although you are no longer named Tarly, I still hope you can remember this sentence.

conspiracy and lies may win political victories but they will not grant you much influence as a commander on the battlefield.

Since you have the courage to accept the development order this time, it means that you still carry the blood of our Tarly family.

Remember our motto, as it will be far more useful than money during difficult territory development."

Samwell nodded solemnly, feeling a warm sense of pride for his family's legacy. However, Earl Randyll's next sentence immediately shattered that warmth, "But if you fail to open up new territories, don't bother returning to Horn Hill. Otherwise, I will personally cut off your head with my own hands!"

After delivering these words, Earl Randyll turned and left . Samwell, left behind, watched his father's tall figure receding into the distance with complex expression.

Finally, he shook his head and chuckled .

….

In the garden full of flowers, Samwell was holding a long silver sword, practicing stabbing hard at a target made of iron oak.

It is unfortunate that his bloated figure is not very graceful, and it is also seriously affecting his speed and movement. It didn't take long for his steps to become disorganized.

However, Samwell did not give up and continued to persist, despite his clumsiness.

It wasn't until the sun had set and his clothes were completely soaked that Samwell finally stopped practicing. He moved his tired body with difficulty and made his way to the steps, where he sat down and picked up a glass of water, taking a few sips to quench his thirst.

Once he had recovered, he focused on his attribute panel, but noticed that the data hadn't changed much. The only noticeable difference was that his agility had increased from 0.52 to 0.53. Samwell concluded that his guess was correct, that training could indeed change the value of his attributes. However, the change was not significant enough to be overly excited about.

After practicing stabbing all afternoon, only the agility increased by 0.01, while the strength and spirit remained unchanged. Perhaps there were changes in these attributes as well, but the changes were too small to be reflected numerically. The values on the property panel were only accurate to two decimal places, after all. The reason why agility had changed the most was probably because its original value was too low, making it easier to improve compared to the other attributes.

Samwell believed that an average adult's three attributes should be around 1. However, due to his obesity, his agility value was significantly lower than normal.

In contrast, his strength attribute was slightly higher than average, as it took strength to move his heavy body. His highest attribute was spirit, with a value of 1.12.

Samwell speculated that this could be attributed to the natural intelligence and love of reading of the previous owner of his body.

The three values on the attribute panel, strength and agility, are easy to understand, but Samwell is uncertain about the last value, spirit. He has some doubts that the data of spirit may be related to the legendary magic that has disappeared. After all, this is a magical world with dragons, white walkers, children of the forest, wizards, and both old and new gods.

Although these magical creatures are now either extinct or have become legends, and even miracles have not appeared in Westeros for a long time, with the long summer coming to close and the harsh winter approaching, the Game of Thrones will kick off again and these mysterious things will gradually resurface on the continent of Westeros.

Perhaps, when one's spiritual value increases to a certain level, he can also unlock the door to the mysterious side and unravel its secrets.

But here lies the problem, Samwell hasn't found a way to increase his attribute points. He could improve his strength and agility through knight training, but the progress was too slow. Additionally, as the values increased, the difficulty of further improvement would also increase while the speed would further decrease.

As for improving his spirit, Samwell doubted that merely reading books could do the trick.

However, Samwell was not disheartened. Even though the attribute panel couldn't directly add points, just having a digital representation of his three attributes was already incredibly valuable.

By experimenting with various methods and observing changes in his attribute values, he could develop a set of improvement techniques that were best suited for him.

For instance, the swordsmanship he was currently practicing, which was passed down from the Tarly family, could be refined and perfected through the feedback of attribute values.

Furthermore, while it is currently not possible to add points directly, it may become possible in the future. Samwell speculated that once he expands his territory and appoints new vassals, the attribute panel is likely to undergo changes, potentially allowing for the addition of points.

As he contemplated these possibilities with great ambition, the sound of footsteps suddenly interrupted his thoughts from behind.

As Samwell turned his head, he noticed a maid approaching and respectfully speaking , "Sir Caesar, the butler has sent me to remind you that dinner will commence at six o'clock sharp, and the venue will be in the main castle's banquet hall."

"Alright," Samwell responded, rising his feet and instructing, "Please prepare some hot water for me as I would like to take a bath."

"Of course, sir," .
