Elian chuckled, taking the book and examining the worn cover. "How did you get it at half price?"
"Charm," Niko replied, winking. Dillion rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his smirk.
They spent a few more hours wandering, each moment making Elian feel more connected to this new life he was carving out.
Finally it was time to go back as twilight began to fall. As they walked, Izan glanced at Elian, his heart swelling with affection at the sight of his joy.
"Did you enjoy today?" he asked softly
Elian's face glowed, a peaceful smile spreading across his lips. "More than I can say. I wish we could do this every day."
Izan chuckled, squeezing his hand gently. "Perhaps we can make it a tradition."
Niko and Dillion walked a few paces ahead, their shoulders brushing as they walked. Every so often, they would exchange a quiet laugh or a look, their connection visible even in the smallest gestures.
