She tapped a spoon next to her, after hearing Pad recount his latest dilemma.
“So you didn’t tell Wayne about RJ? And RJ doesn’t know that Wayne’s in love with you?”
“No. So what do I do?”
Pad looked at Jack who seemed more interested in his phone. Pad looked to Jen, and she shrugged.
“Well, do you love RJ? What about Wayne?” Jen asked.
“I’m so confused, Jen. I thought I knew what I wanted but Wayne makes me feel so—desired. He has no hesitation in telling me how he feels. He’s like an open book. What you see is what you get. RJ, on the other hand, I don’t know. It’s like he can’t talk about what’s going on. But I feel comfortable with him. I did anyway. But, now he’s trying to make up for it, I think.”
Jack put his phone down. “So do you still care for this officer guy?”
Pad nodded. Jack, who sat barefoot in the kitchen, wearing a plain white T-shirt and shorts, had his hands open, waiting for an answer.
“I love RJ, but I’m torn.”
