My eyes opened slowly as a wave of confusion washed over me.
"What the hell." I said aloud as I stared up at bright green leaves waving in the wind high above me.
Slowly sitting up, I saw I was laying nude on cold dirt with splotches of grass scattered around.
Looking around me, I saw I was somewhere in a forest.
But how the hell did I get here?
The last thing I remembered was falling asleep in my bed…with pants.
But now I was somewhere in a forest…without pants.
Slowly standing, a wave of dizziness came over me, causing me to stumble to a close by tree to stop myself from falling over.
The tree made a loud crack as my hand slammed into the bark, causing a few pieces of the bark to fly off.
Dry heaving, I coughed as nothing came up.
'What the hell is happening!' I thought as I heaved again, but again nothing came up.
The dry heaving thankfully came to an end, as well as the dizziness.
Waiting a few extra seconds, I let out large lungfuls of air as I made sure I wasn't going to have a second wave of dizziness or nausea.
Not feeling anything, I pushed myself away from the tree, spitting to get the taste of bile out of my mouth.
Looking around myself again, my brows creased.
It was way too warm.
It was supposed to currently be on the cusp of snowing.
How could it have gotten this warm overnight?
Not seeing any answers coming my way any time soon, I figured it was best to try and get out of here before night to find some help.
The words of my dad rang through my head as I started to walk in a random direction.
He had told me these words when we were on a camping trip when I was just a kid and Laurits and Mangna were still very young.
"A sitting duck is a dead duck. Find water and shelter if you are lost. Then look for help."
So, doing as he had said, I set out in search for just those things, shelter and water.
Being careful as I walked, I made sure to not step on anything that might injure my feet, as an infection could be deadly if I wasn't found in time.
As I walked, I looked for any signs that might signify the presence of humans.
Trash, shoe prints, paths, or maybe a road.
But the more I walked, the more I began to panic.
Thoughts of what my family might be thinking circulated my head as well as thoughts of the panic they were probably feeling at my disappearance.
Those exact thoughts are what distracted me from seeing what I had stepped on.
Whatever it was, it felt cold and metallic.
Abruptly coming to a stop, I moved my foot to the side and looked down at what it was.
Looking down, I saw the glint of whatever it was, but it was mostly covered by dead leaves and dirt.
Crouching down, I moved the leaves to the side, and dug whatever it was up.
'What the hell?' I thought as I unearthed my discovery.
Grabbing it by the handle, I lifted the large three foot sword, which resembled the swords I had seen the elves in the Lord of the rings movies use.
The sword itself looked like it was still in pristine condition, while the leather and wood handle was mostly gone.
Standing back to my feet, I set the blade in my hand, looking it over.
Running a finger over the blade, I felt how sharp the blade was, as it sliced my skin, even though I was touching it as light as a feather.
"Shit!" I yelped in surprise, as the cut caused me to drop the sword to the ground, while I stuck my finger in my mouth.
Taking my finger out of my mouth, I looked at where I felt the cut just a moment ago, but as I looked at my finger, I was surprised to just see regular skin on my finger, instead of the deep cut I had been expecting.
I blinked a few times as I looked my finger over.
I was certain I had cut my finger, the taste of my blood still lingering in my mouth.
"This day just keeps getting weirder and weirder." I mumbled to myself as I leaned down to grab the sword again.
Making sure to grab what was left of the handle, I kept the sharp end far away from myself.
Deciding to keep the sword with me as a form of perfection and an aid in my current situation, I held it in my right hand as I continued to walk aimlessly in the same direction.
This time as I walked, I wondered how a sword had ended up in the middle of nowhere.
It couldn't have been out here long, as the blade more than likely would have rusted if it had.
As I walked, I listened to the sound of the birds chirping all throughout the forest, as if they were excited for some reason, as well as felt the wind brush over my bare skin like it was embracing me in a hug.
For some reason, as I walked, a feeling of right came over me, like everything was as it was supposed to be, and I was where I was supposed to be, like I was home.
After a total of an hour of walking, I was starting to get thirsty and a little hungry.
I hadn't stopped once, and probably walked a couple of miles before finally coming across a small stream winding its way between the trees.
Stabbing the tip of the sword into the dirt, I dropped to my knees as I cupped my hands together and brought a handful of water to my lips.
The water was earthy and sweet, tasting like the best water I had ever tried before.
Bringing handful after handful of the water to my lips, I satiated myself.
Finally getting my fill, I leaned back, looking up at the trees overhead.
"I need to get home." I sighed to myself as I stood to my feet.
Grabbing the sword again, I continued forward, thinking about my family.
For another hour I wandered the forest, still seeing no sign of humans, that is, until I saw a large perfectly square block of stone embedded into the earth.
It stuck out of the ground at an angle, allowing me to see the perfect angles of the block.
Walking up to stand next to it, I was amazed to see the sheer size of it.
Standing at over six feet myself, the block had to be twice as tall as me and just as wide.
'a sword and now this…?' I thought confused, running my hand over the smooth surface of the block.
Walking around the block, I decided to continue walking, as the hours until dark were coming closer.
But as I stepped around the block, I saw I was now standing at the edge of the forest, at what I guessed was on a large hill.
Stepping forward into the blinding light of the sun, I had to cover my eyes from the sun, which allowed me to see what lay in front of me, and everything I thought I had known got dumped on its head.
