Chapitre 155: Unwelcome Guest VIII
"Still, even though it is unlike unlikely the way I see it, there is still hope for you Riser Phenex." Jun suddenly said.
Riser immediately looked up while everyone else in the room was surprised. After all, with the way Jun was speaking, it most definitely did not seem like that was the case.
"It's simple really. The objective here, is to send a strong enough warning to all other forces of the supernatural world, that my people are not to be messed with, that my word is the unbreaking law of my territory and that there are no exceptions to those rules, no matter the case." Jun explained.
"I see. In other words, so long as the party that went against you faces sufficiently grave consequences, said consequences don't really matter." Sona said with a pondering look of realization.
"Precisely." Jun acknowledged her reasoning.
"If your people are willing to pay a disproportionately high cost, one big enough to actually make a dent in the Devil Race's reserves to redeem my prisoner, that that would be enough. As it will also show that the entire faction must pay for the infractions of its members." He added.
"This . . ." Riser realized the issue.
"That's right." Jun nodded in affirmations.
"It is highly unlikely your people will pay such a price. After all, it takes a lot of high ranking devils to come up with such an amount meaning, even if there are those willing to pay, they will almost certainly face too much opposition to actually do so." He added as an explanation for those who had yet to catch on.
While all this back and forth was happening, Grayfia rushed to find her husband so as to inform him of the unfortunate turn of events that had occured.
She entered his office in a hurry and greeted her love and king with urgency.
"Sirzechs-sama, something requires your immediate attention." Grayfia declared.
Noticing the distress in his normally cool and collected wife, Sirzech immediately asked her what the matter was.
"What happened?"
"It is in regards to Rias-sama's engagement but the matter devolved in an unexpectedly catastrophic way." Grayfia replied, getting her thoughts in order.
"Rias's engagement? Did she do something drastic since she wanted to break it?" Sirzechs inquired.
"No. It seems as though Riser-sama got impatient with Rias-sama's constant refusal and delaying so he went to visit her." The silver haired maid informed.
"In Kuoh!?" Sirzechs questioned, now getting his wife's distress fully.
"I'm afraid so." Grayfia replied.
The crimson haired Satan sighed with his palm on his his face as he struggled to comprehend how Riser could have been so stupid to go there without permission, even after his warning and declaration to the entire faction.
He had expected the Great King faction to severely underestimate Jun and provoke him, only to suffer a major blow which would no doubt weaken their influence, thus helping his Four Satans Faction quite significantly but on the contrary, it was a high class devil from his own faction that that crossed that line instead.
"How was Haikami Jun's reaction?" Sirzechs then asked.
"Pretty much what we expected." Grayfia replied.
"Only the target is different from our predictions." She added.
"In other words, not only does he not have the slightest intentions of backing down, he even wants to blow things out of proportion to warn all the factions in the supernatural society that he is not to be messed with, no matter the opponent." Sirzechs said in response.
"It is indeed so." The maid wife confirmed.
"Did he give us some time to discuss the matter?" The crimson haired Satan then asked.
"I requested as much. Haikami-sama gave us three days before he goes ahead and settles things according to his own plans." Grayfia responded.
"Alright then. I'm going to call for a meeting to discuss the matter." Sirzechs said.
"Grayfia, you must return to Kuoh, try to learn as much as you can while I work on this side and tell Haikami Jun we wish to have an official meeting with him tomorrow, with representatives from the entire devil race in attendance." He then commanded.
"Also, see if he agrees to hold the meeting in the underworld as that will make convincing the more problematic representatives easier but if he does not agree, that is also fine, I'll just have to make an extra effort to convince the appropriate people." Sirzechs further added.
'It will also serve to dissuade him from starting hostilities since he is within our territory and put us in an advantageous position should such a turn of events come to pass.' He thought at the same time.
"As you wish Sirzechs-sama." Grayfia bowed, making her husband smile at her always official and serious attitude.
They then parted, each to their own assigned location. In other words, Grayfia returned to Kuoh in order to speak with Jun while Sirzechs went to gather the bigshot devils for an emergency meeting.
Back in Kuoh, everyone was still gathered in the Occult Research Club building when a magic circled flared into life once again, marking Grayfia's return.
"Oh? I did not expect you to be back so soon Grayfia-san." Jun casually commented at her appearance.
"I've spoken to Sirzechs-sama and have come to communicate his words to you." The silver haired maid respectfully replied.
"What did onii-sama say?" Rias interrupted, rather rudely too, though no elected to give it much thought at the moment.
"Sirzechs-sama is gather the representatives of the Devil Race so a proper decision can be made. We also request your presence in the underworld tomorrow so as to discuss this important case with the gathered representatives." Grayfia explained.
"Eeeehhh?" Jun questioned with a smile.
"You want me to go directly to the middle of enemy territory when it is entirely possible for hostilities to break out?"
