Chapitre 70: Chapter 70

After listening to Shinji's explanation, Shirou's eyebrows furrowed deeply. This kind of unbelievable story was too much for someone like Shirou, who had no basic knowledge of magic, to accept in a short time.

Several minutes passed.

"Shinji, what is the wish of the Matou family?"

"Huh?" Shinji was a bit taken aback by Shirou's question after hearing all that, "Why are you asking that?"

"Is it something you can't talk about?" Shirou showed an apologetic expression, as if he had asked something inappropriate.

"Well, it's not like I can't talk about it. After all, I've already completely abandoned it," Shinji shrugged while casually flipping the meat in the frying pan. "The true wish of the Matou, or Makiri, family for the past 500 years was to eliminate all human karma, to eradicate the evil within humanity and achieve salvation for all mankind."

"A very noble wish," Shirou nodded, affirming, "It's indeed a wish that can't be fulfilled without a miracle like the Holy Grail."

"Well, it's unrealistic if you ask me. I can't even imagine what the world would be like if it were achieved. Anyway, let's eat."

Before Shinji could finish speaking, Saber suddenly stood up!

"Enemy presence! Two of them!"

With those words, Saber, now in armor, rushed towards the entrance at full speed.

"Is she an idiot?!" Shirou was startled and hurriedly ran after her.

Even though her wounds weren't fully healed!

And I haven't even decided whether to participate in this brutal war or not.

At this moment, Shinji, who calmly turned off the stove, let out a long sigh.

That overdue twin-tails finally arrived, at least half an hour later than in the original world.

"Saber! Stop! Please, stop!"

"Why should I? They are enemies!"

Outside the wall came the sounds of Shirou and Saber, followed by the clash of weapons and the rapid sound of footsteps and retreating steps.

Standing in the courtyard, Shinji, to avoid them wasting command seals, decided to use a long-lost British magic!

"Emiya! And Saber! I'm starting dinner because I'm too hungry!"

Outside the wall, upon hearing Shinji's shout, Saber, who was about to finish off Archer, paused for a moment!

And in that brief pause, Archer found an opportunity, steadied himself, and prepared to defend Rin.

"I'll try to save some food for you!"

Upon hearing Shinji's second shout, Saber completely stopped, and couldn't help but recall the enticing aroma from the kitchen.

"What is he doing here?"

Rin, who had fallen to the ground behind Archer, showed a strange expression.

"Great," seeing Saber stop, Shirou let out a long breath and, with the moonlight, clearly saw the opposing Master, his eyes widened, "Wait? You're... Tohsaka?"

"Oh~ so that's what it is, rookie Master," Rin elegantly stood up, showing a look of realization, then softly sighed, "Anyway, good evening in advance, Emiya."

Shinji squinted disdainfully at Rin, who was sitting at the low table.

"Knowing I'm here, why did you come in? I've already told Emiya the rules."

"It's none of your business," Rin turned her face away arrogantly, "And you should be the one to leave, right? You're an unfilial descendant who isn't even a magus!"

"Shinji, Tohsaka came because she heard you were almost stabbed by Lancer..."

"Shut up, Emiya!"

Rin, blushing, loudly interrupted Shirou.

Shinji curled his lips and waved his hand, "Really, you came to see my miserable state? Sorry to disappoint, but I wasn't hurt at all."

"No, Shinji, that's not what she meant, right?" Shirou awkwardly tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Tohsaka was obviously concerned..."

"Hmph! That is indeed regrettable," Rin huffed, but her eyes secretly glanced at Shinji's chest.

"Uh..."

Shirou was dumbfounded, unable to understand what was going on between these two, and dared not ask more. Instead, he awkwardly pointed to the rice cooker, "Tohsaka, would you like to eat with us?"

Rin sniffed the air, smelling the aroma of the Chinese dishes on the table, hesitated for a moment, and then shook her head.

"No need."

"Good, I didn't prepare any for you," Shinji said, picking up his chopsticks, clasping his hands together, and closing his eyes, "Let's eat."

"Huh? You cooked this?" Rin was surprised.

"So, you were saved by a rabbit? That's really lucky. What happened to the rabbit?"

Shinji glanced at Rin's chopsticks, which were holding a piece of meat, "You're eating it."

"Huh?"

Rin was stunned, her right hand slipped, and the meat fell onto the table.

"You almost made me eat what?!"

The elegance disappeared as Rin grabbed Shinji by the front of his shirt and shook him.

"Wouldn't it be wasteful to throw it away?"

Shinji shrugged, looking completely justified.

"That's not what I mean! That rabbit was your savior!"

"Yes, so I'll always remember it. It saved my life and now it's filling my empty stomach. What a selfless rabbit~"

Compared to Rin and Shinji's noisy argument, Saber and Shirou were much quieter.

Staring at the braised rabbit in front of him, Shirou hesitated for a long time before tentatively reaching out with his chopsticks.

(Note: Most Japanese people who live well generally don't eat rabbit.)

"Wait! Shirou!" Saber stopped him, "The rabbit killed by that cursed spear might be carrying a curse! I can't allow that risk (let me taste it first)!"

With that reason, Shirou accepted Saber's proposal to taste the food first.

Ten minutes later, seeing Saber's empty rice bowl and hearing her request for another, Shirou realized something but dared not ask directly. Instead, he subtly asked.

"Um, Saber, how is it?"

"The meat is tender and juicy, the ingredients are perfectly handled with no gamey taste. The color is a rich sauce-red, the aroma is fragrant, the meat is tender and flavorful, not greasy despite its richness, and not tough despite its leanness. Excellent! Shirou, why the strange expression? Is the rice gone?"

"No, there's still some left..."

In the end, Shirou swallowed his retort and obediently served another bowl of rice for Saber.
