Early the next morning, Azrael, Vespera, Silas, Elian, and a few others gathered to set off on their mission. Understanding the need for discretion, they broke up into smaller groups to avoid drawing attention to themselves.
As the first light of dawn touched the sky, the group transformed into their human selves, concealing their supernatural identities.
"I am coming with you," Elian said in his enthusiastic tone, catching up with the group just as they prepared to set off.
Azrael raised an eyebrow. "You are supposed to stay back at the base with Silas and Elian. We can't risk unnecessary exposure."
"I cannot be alone with Silas; you know how much he can't stand me," Elian protested.
"I also can't stand you," Azrael said without missing a beat as they walked past the portal, out of their realm.
Elian grinned, undeterred. "Oh, come on, big—Azrael. I can be discreet. Plus, I have got a knack for blending in. You won't even notice I am there."
