Chapitre 15: Buying Time 2
(Bonus chatper for the 200 powerstones. There might be another chapter today.
It was my hardest battle to date, me vs 3 Dragon with power all at the Dragon King level. A Diamond Dragon, A Lightning Dragon, and an Air Dragon. It was a battle that left me injured and bleeding for the first time. For Air could put out the fire, which allowed it to injure me. But the air had to be strong enough, which meant that the Air Dragon King had to use powerful attacks.
But I was growing, I was improving, I was reading their memories, and most importantly, I was buying time. But I was finding myself low on magical energy as the night fell. I had been fighting for hours, and using what I called Demonic Phoenix Magic, which used up more than twice the amount of magical energy.
Boom
I slammed on the ground, my legs stabbed into the ground, sending me sliding far away while looking at the sky, where the dragons floated, clearly tired. I stood up, showing zero signs that I was tired or even low on magical energy. My flames spread out, catching the whole land on fire, just for me to devour the flames to restore my magical energy.
I wasted no time, using their surprise to rocket myself forward at my full speed, while I cut off the wing and arm of the air dragon. the Air Dragon had dodged, but it was no longer able to fly and started to fall towards the ground. I wasted no time, rocketing down to the ground where I aimed to kill the air dragon.
"Quickly, kill this human!" The 2 dragons roared, causing the army of dragons who were on standby to shoot towards me. Breath attacks rocketed toward me, forcing me to move from side to side, and all over the place to avoid the breath attacks while still shooting down towards the air dragon.
To the shock of the 2 dragon king, I fell into the chest of the air dragon, killing it, before quickly using it as a shield, to block the rain of attacks. digging myself out of the chest, its organs, and blood all over me. I was slow as I used this chance to catch my breath, I was mentally and physically tired.
'Was there a mind spell that restored mental energy? I should have asked him.' I thought while looking at the army of dragons who were angry.
"Attack!" Erza said while enchanting herself this time with Iron Dragon Slayer magic, Rocketing forward, she shot towards the lightning dragon, aiming to slaughter the troublesome dragon.
The two armies shot forward, and the human army was not weak. Geared with weapons enchanted with dragon slayer magic, they were able to kill dragons. counting just the number of dragons, the enemy side had 500, while our side only had 300. Adding the humans, our forces had more than a 1,000-man dragon army. We outnumbered them, the only problem was the Dragon Kings.
I wasted no time and shot forward, drawing the attention of the Diamond Dragon, while slowly using this chance to slaughter as many nearby dragons to lower the number of dragons by as much as I could. When I saw an opening, I used Dragon Slayer Magic, stabbing through the Diamond Dragon's eyeball, and digging deep into its body.
"I like this kid," Erza said seeing just how ruthless I was. The Diamond Dragon fell to the ground, and I quickly crawled myself out of the brain matter and blood through the eyeball and looked towards the sky where I caught my breath and shot towards the Lightning Dragon King.
I moved to kill the lightning dragon, but I was hit from the back by an ice dragon breath, which pierced a hole through my chest. I coughed up a mouthful of blood while falling to the ground, but before I could even use my magical energy to heal, I was shocked when my armor began to heal me, regrowing the missing organs, while also making me stronger.
I was stunned for I didn't know this armor could do this, but I quickly fed it my magical energy, enhancing its healing capability while I burst off, doing a long U-turn in mid-air before shooting toward the ice dragon that had attacked me. This all happened in the blink of an eye, giving others no chance to react.
The Ice Dragon instantly turned to flee, it was sure it wasn't my match, and that was true. Before it got far, I shot forward, grabbed its neck, and sent it falling toward the ground, all while I was reading its memory. Just when I was about to hit the ground, I was already going through the dragon memory of dragon slayer magic, before I went on to cut off its head, where I burst into the sky, shooting towards the lightning dragon.
But the lightning dragon had fallen back, the dragon had even ordered everyone to fall back, for they had lost today. This wasn't their full army, just 500 strong army against our few 300 dragons, adding the number of Dragon Kings that joined today... well, it was an overwhelming force, right?
I watched as the dragon riders shot forward, slaughtering as many dragons as they could. I also shot forward, wanting to kill the Lightning Dragon King. Erza joined me, along with her husband, Jaden.
He although wasn't at the Dragon King's level of power, was at the Dragon Lord's level of power. He could kill the weaker Dragon Lords without too much trouble, and with his Destruction magic, he was immune to most forms of magic and made him the perfect shield to some degree.
We slaughtered dozens of dragons in our path, while we neared the horrified Lightning Dragon who realized he couldn't escape...
A few minutes later, we sat, everyone who was injured walking through a fire door to heal. I on the other hand was busy eating fire, to restore my energy.
"Sorry kid, you will have to pull something like that for the following 6 days. but don't worry, God slayers should be arriving soon." Erza said to which I nodded calmly, If I wasn't here they would have all died. But if I never worsen the relationship with the Holy Light Empire... well, they would have had no problem here.
We all got the rest we needed, knowing damn well that what was about to befall us was going to be a stronger army. We didn't have to wait long as 5 hours later, the army of dragons returned, with greater might than before, while carrying greater numbers, and more Dragon Kings amongst them.
"Numbers?" Erza asked while looking forward with a deep frown.
"1,000, with 8 Dragon Kings," I said before the person Erza asked could say anything. My nose had grown sharper. Erza's heart dropped, as this couldn't get worse. They were now equal in number, as in total we had 1,000 people, adding both man and dragon.
"Ryu, as our most effective fighter, I will throw you in first. Fight to lower their numbers." Erza said and to that, I had rocketed off at full speed. A dragon breath from an Ice Dragon King shot towards me, and seeing that, I began spinning at high speed, being a drill that pierced through the Ice breath. I exploded with the heat of the sun, even so, I was freezing under this dragon's breath. But adding the drill-like effect, I pierced through the breath attack and shot into the dragon's mouth, where I went on to cook it from the inside out. It was a fight between Ice and Cold in there, where I had the upper hand as it was self-harming itself freezing its inner organs.
its head exploded, while I shot toward the nearest Dragon King, this led all of them to move to the side with that dragon, which drew their attention away from the far weaker army, which I burst towards, burning dozens into ashes.
But if I could do this, the other dragons could do the same to our side, so they burst forward, aiming to slaughter as many as they could, which instantly forced me to stop and shoot over to stop them, but 2 Dragon King moved, blocking my path.
"Move!" I roared, smelling the soul of a dragon on my side fading away, meaning he had died. Many more humans and dragons followed, causing me to explode with the full might of my magical power.
Phoenix Slayer Magic, Dragon Slayer Magic, Devil Slayer Magic, and God Slayer Magic. With the cry of a phoenix, I shot forward, but I didn't use Fire, I used Lightning Slayer magic, which greatly boosted my speed and attack power, the sudden change to my element was something no one expected. With a flash, I pierced a hole through a dragon, but I didn't stop while I rocketed towards the 3 dragon kings slaughtering my allies.
The two other dragon kings were held back by Erza who was fighting a losing battle. As she could hold on, I moved forward, quickly drawing the 3 dragon kings' attention, while using Mind Slayer magic, hitting them all with a mental attack that caused them to cry in pain, I grabbed one of them, shooting them toward one of the Dragons fighting Erza.
I opened my mouth, unleashing an Ice breath at a water dragon king, freezing it in its place, before going on to breathe out a Diamond breath at an iron dragon, overwhelming it since Diamond was stronger than iron.
I paused for a moment to look at the losses, 12 dragons on our side were dead, and 50 humans died, with many more badly injured... This was my fault.
"Ryu, focus on the battle before you." Erza roared to which I wasted no time and jumped back into the battle, switching from different elements, this, of course, led the dragon kings to focus all of their wrath at me, wrath which I fully took in and unleashed back upon them.
With Erza's help, we quickly sent the remaining dragon king fleeing along with the army. Erza sighed in relief at this, if the dragons had a strong leader or something like that, we would have lost. But these dragons were unwilling to fight to the death.
"Are you alright?" She asked seeing the injuries which were slowly healing. I had taken a lot of damage, and switching from magic to magic like I was doing wasn't a smart move, since my mastery was with fire, not other elements, so I had used up a lot of energy.
I was at my limit as of now, I was covered in blood, and it was unclear if it was my blood or the Dragon King's blood.
"I will live," I said while breathing in, eating the air to restore my magical energy, before going to heal where I was needed. I looked at those who had fallen, today we last 27 dragons, and 102 men. We would not last a week like this, and that's even more so when their next attack was surely going to be far more powerful than this...
Who was leading the Dragon King? Well, it was the Dragon God. The ruler of the dragon race... but he was only the ruler of the Dragon race in Alakitasia, not in Ishgar. The reason for this war was simple, someone questioned his rule. how could he be the ruler of the dragon race when dragons in Ishgar didn't even know his name? How could he be the ruler when dragons in Guiltina didn't know his name?
So, this war was to conquer the world and show the world just who was the true overlord of this world.
"What happened?" The Dragon God, A huge 5-headed Dragon asked seeing the army he had sent out returned beaten. He was displeased, not liking weakness. Each head of the Dragon God was a different color, for the different elements he had under him. Earth, Water, Lightning, Air, and Fire. And Yes, he could devour each element.
"The human they spoke of called Ryu is not normal my lord, he has all 3 forms of slayer magic plus our dragon magic, and on top of that has many elements. I counted more than 8, on top of that, his magic is super effective upon us dragons, far more than what our dragon magic is." The Water Dragon King said while lowering his head,
"Such a human exists? Then let me go personally test his power." The Dragon God said with a grin, before he turned into a bolt of lightning, shooting towards where the battlefield was located, at a speed above that of light...
"We are the reinforcement sent by the Holy Light Empire," Currently, I sat eating diamonds to restore my energy and also fill my stomach. I looked at the army from the Holy Light Empire, sighing before going on to close my eyes to rest my mind... but I wasn't given the chance as from afar, I felt something.
"Run!" I said while standing to my feet. I wasn't the only one as all of the dragons were on their feet, looking far away with unease.
"We can't run," Erza said seriously,
"There is only 1 coming, I will draw its attention away, and hopefully find a way to kill it. This is far above the Dragon King tier, it might be a dragon god." I said seriously, horrifying Erza that she was only sensing one thing heading their way.
"You're the future king, I will not let you face this on your own. everyone else falls back, allow me to enchant myself with your magic." Erza said with a sigh, to which I nodded, so Erza did just that, gaining my magic,
"Can you tell what element it is?" The God Slayers asked, and only 12 came, although they didn't like me, this was a war for the sake of mankind. There were only 110 God Slayers, I cut that number down to 40... it was shocking enough that the Holy Light Empire sent 12 God Slayers Here.
"It has 5 elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Lightning, and Water," I said causing the air to grow still as they never heard of such a dragon. Even so, the god slayers moved to stand forward, while everyone fell backward.
"Ryu, you would test it out, and draw its attention while everyone else lands their support. Give me your shoes, I will enchant it with the power of fly." Erza said to the god slayers, who quickly gave her their shoes, before I purified them, allowing them to be far stronger.
"Don't die," Jaden said to his wife, to which Erza nodded with a grin that said she couldn't die. Jaden said nothing else, joining everyone and falling back, while we shot forward to meet the incoming dragon...
