Chapitre 5: 5. Rampaging Sand Raccoon
Fear fills the researchers' hearts. They never thought their test subjects would actually come to kill them.
It's not like this scenario is impossible, but this facility is filled with security measures including anti-magic walls. They even have powerful Mages as Guards, but those Mages are killed so easily by Alex and Ultear.
"D-DON'T COME CLOSER!"
Some researchers are holding children who wear numbered clothes. They are also test subjects just like Alex and Ultear. These kids were still being experimented on a while ago.
Alex stops and the researchers seem relieved seeing they can use the children as hostages. But their relieved expressions don't last long because then Alex opens his mouth and shoots some small wind bullets.
The wind bullets are very fast and they pierce through the heads of those who hold the children as hostages, killing them instantly.
"Guys! Come here quickly before they capture you again!"
Ultear shouts to the children who then run toward Alex and Ultear quickly. Alex's appearance is very scary, but he is not as scary as the researchers for these children.
Some children are too weak to move or have disabilities, so Alex uses his metal sand to pick them up while Ultear is attacking the researchers with her Ice Make Magic.
Alex wants to torture those researchers, but he knows he doesn't have time for it. This place must have more Mages as guards, so he can't stay for too long. The children's safety is also his priority now.
"Well, let's just be satisfied with this."
Alex puts his hands on the floor and breaks the floor beneath the researchers apart. Then he uses the small metal scraps to hit the researchers' bodies, giving them a lot of wounds.
These researchers are Mages, but they are not strong and not proficient in battles. That's why they chose to hide here when the emergency alarm set off.
Alex then takes the children out of the lab room without killing the researchers. Their wounds are bad enough and he has a plan for them later.
After getting out, Alex makes another path to get out of the facility. Then he escapes with the children.
Some Mages try to stop them, but Alex and Ultear can defeat them quickly. The people of this facility seem to believe in their anti-magic materials too much and don't hire better guards.
When they get out, they see that they are in a quite high location. But the outside wall of this facility is curved, so they can slide on it.
Alex holds the kids with his big hands and tail before sliding down on the curved wall. It doesn't take long for them to finally reach the ground.
The landscape outside the facility is that of a dry and rocky land. They can't even see any plant near this facility.
The facility itself is very big now that they can see it from outside. It is also shaped like a standing crescent moon.
Alex looks around and sees the other test subjects that have escaped before them. So he runs there with the kids, but then he sees that there are some Mage Guards that surround the test subjects.
Without hesitation, Alex attacks them using wind bullets he shoots from his mouth. Some of them get hit and defeated, but some manage to defend themselves.
They try to attack Alex, but then their bodies get pierced from below by sharp sand spikes. Now that they are outside, Shukaku's power can finally shine.
"Are you guys okay?"
"Y-yes, thank you. They attacked us when we tried to run away, but fortunately, no one died."
"Good, now get away from here. I will take care of this facility and those scums. It will be dangerous, so go quite far and hide behind big rocks or something."
"W-what are you trying to do, Alex?"
Ultear is worried that Alex will do something dangerous even after they manage to escape.
"Don't worry, I will be fine. But you will be in danger if you stay here. Now go!"
Ultear decides to be obedient and goes with the other people to find a hiding place quite far from there. After they find it, they look at Alex that looks very small now and then their eyes widen.
Their jaws also drop when they see Alex's body grow bigger and bigger. He transforms into a gigantic creature. Alex is transforming into Shukaku's full form.
It's not just the saved people who are shocked. The scums in the facility are also shocked seeing a gigantic beast suddenly appears outside their facility.
"Then, I'll leave it to you, Shukaku."
"HAHAHA! Leave it to me, kid! I will make this place disappear."
Shukaku takes control of the body and laughs sinisterly. Then he jumps really high, getting above the big and tall facility.
"HAHAHA! TAKE THIS YOU TRASH!"
Shukaku's massive body falls on the facility and crushes it. Even if the facility is very sturdy, it still can't withstand Shukaku's weight. Besides, he can manipulate his weight too, so he is now much heavier than normal.
The standing crescent moon building snaps in half before being crushed into pieces by Shukaku. It still hasn't been crushed completely because it's very big.
So Shukaku uses his hands and tail to hit the remaining parts of the building to break them down even more. He destroys the building filled with trashy people while laughing like a kid.
Shukaku makes sure no one there escapes. He attacks those who escape with his tail, slapping them from above and crushing them easily.
It doesn't take long for Shukaku to finish the job. The facility has been destroyed completely now and none of those researchers or guards that stay there survive.
Then suddenly, Shukaku's giant body crumbles into sand. The sand covers the remains of that facility, burying them completely. A big seal even appears on the sand cover to prevent anyone from digging the facility.
Alex is lying weakly on the sand while panting hard. Transforming into Shukaku's full form took a lot more magic power than he thought. He almost ran out of magic power even though he just transformed for a short time.
Ultear and the people he saved approach him after making sure that everything is truly over. They cry because they are finally released from that hell.
"Alright, let's leave this place quickly. I'm sure they have more people out there. The destruction of this facility must have alarmed their people and they must be rushing here now. So we need to leave quickly before they arrive."
After Alex says that, everyone starts moving to find the closest civilization. Some of them actually saw a silhouette of a town quite far from here when they jumped out of the facility, so they decided to go there now.
Some hours later, just as Alex said, a lot of people are coming to the destroyed facility. They come using some magic vehicles that look like cars.
All of them are confused because they can't find any trace of the facility. What remains there is just a big sand square with unknown black writings on it.
Also strangely, while they're sure that the square is made out of sand, none of them can dig it. They can't even break it with their magic spells because it's even harder than metal.
"Damn, what was happening here? Who attacked this place?"
"They said the test subjects were escaping their prison cells and rioting. Maybe it's them?"
"IDIOT! There's no way those test subjects could cause all of these alone. It must be a plot of a powerful organization. Those lab rats must've been just used as distractions. Also, look at this magic. Have you ever seen this kind of magic?"
"N-no."
"Me neither. It's possible that the one attacking this place is an organization outside of Ishgar."
They are almost sure that the one destroying this facility is a big organization now. Thanks to that, Alex and the test subjects won't be in trouble.
These people also don't bother to look for survivors because they are sure no one can survive such an attack that makes that massive building disappear without trace.
Alex didn't think that far, but if he knows it, he will be very glad he does all of that. If he doesn't destroy the facility completely, then those people will surely try to track him and the other freed people.
But thanks to Shukaku, all of them can truly live freely from now on. Alex too now can truly start his life in this world
