At dawn.

As the first rays of sunlight entered the hospital room, Li Yawei abruptly opened her eyes. After discussing her mother's examinations with the doctor the night before, she had intended to stay by her mother's side the entire time, but she was truly a bit exhausted. She fell asleep while resting at the edge of the bed. When she woke up, daylight had already broken.

She found that she was no longer leaning against the bedside and was instead lying on a makeshift caretaker's bed. When she turned her head to look, Cui Xin'ai wasn't in the hospital bed.

With a drop in her heart, Li Yawei quickly got up and strode out of the room, only to halt as she saw Jin Xin quietly sitting in a seat in the hallway, staring at her.

"Where's Shen Yue?" Li Yawei asked subconsciously, then quickly changed her question, "Does he know where my mom went?" She realized that she had unwittingly started trusting and relying on Shen Yue.
