Chapitre 2: Myria-Annum

Yawn..

A bluish, hazy, starry black sky met the eyes of the still sleepy Ayre Bushnell as he prepared himself to get up and organize himself for the first day of the new year of the Zodiac Calendar.

Ahh, what a pain...

Grunting, as if carrying a piece of heavy boulder on his back, he got up and faced the mirror on the other side of the room. The same sight as any other day was being reflected behind the mirror like a virtual background: a radiant black sky with a blue-whitish tint as if the wind itself had color and was blending itself with the sparkling stars light-years away.

However, just a second later, this view was blocked by a figure of almost two meters with a normal black long hair decorating his head. With a bored-slash-sleepy expression, Ayre tied the back part of his neck-long hair into a bun with a piece of rubber band he got from his left wrist.

Umu, this look is perfect. Although it seems like my hair is still not long enough for the style I want, this will do... With a narcissistic expression on his face, he slowly donned his fake glasses while unhurriedly going for the exit of the room.

With a knock, a servant opened the door. The open hallway welcomed him as if waiting to be stepped on anytime while still being illuminated by the dreamlike blend of colors. With the servant by his side, he started pacing through the hallway going for the main dining room.

Bang!

A sound that cannot be described as anything but a "bang" met his eardrums the moment he stepped into the room. Looking around, he spotted a boisterous group of people shouting around him, but he is ignoring them as if they were the wind's humming and is calmly heading to a seat at the far side of the table.

"Oi, dinner's over. Why're you squirming your ass this late in the evening?"

A dirty interrogation statement you will not expect to hear from a pleasant voice was what his ear caught. In which Ayre replied to:

"Did you eat the tableware too? For I cannot see any. I did not know you eat anything other than what's left of your already small brain. Huh."

An exasperated expression is displayed on the listener's face as his taunting failed fabulously. As time passed, the attendees of the dinner, no, breakfast, slowly filled the chairs around the table. Just as he was slowly losing his patience, the head of the house, his parents, finally arrived.

Creaaaaakkk.

A long and heavy creak followed by a thud as the door closed resounded throughout the room. Still with the bored, not-caring expression on his face, Ayre waited for the start of the breakfast. The servants started setting the table with smooth but swift movements and some time later, they were already finishing up.

Just as the servants went back to their respective positions, Ayre's father, Crill Bushnell, performed a brief speech.

"We will be eternally grateful to the twelve Gods of the Zodiacs for liberating us from an indefinitely dense tragedy ten millennia ago, a debt that cannot be returned even with the ten billion lost ones, us, sacrificing our own beings as an offering. As such, as long as we are alive, we shall at least rejoice at each revolution this planet makes around the system."

Sigh...am hungry already so spare me the freaking speech!

Click.

With a glass click as the end-of-speech signal and the start of breakfast, every participant started their graceful hand movements as they started eating breakfast. Proper table etiquette is being followed as they silently ingest their meals.

Just as the time to eat four steaks passed, Ayre is now readying his napkins to wipe the excess food around his soft, red lips and just like that, the prosaic breakfast ended.

...

As the family started separating as they have their own individual business to attend to, Ayre found himself walking in the hallway filled with the now yellowish veil of light yet again. His next agenda for the day will be to attend the mass of the church of Libra, one of the twelve Gods of Zodiacs, as he is a devout believer of the Goddess.

Hmm...Mass, then I will do the rest of the office work I left yesterday...Man, living itself ain't easy. Ah, wanna sleep!

His lampoons, however, was disturbed by the sound of passing horse carriages. He was now at the front gate of his home, about to enter the crowdy streets of Crotton City, the city his father governs with the help of his mother.

The sight far into the horizon can only be described as an astronomical miracle created by none other than gods: a pillar of purple light that cuts the planet into two halves, on the equator. As Crotton City was close to the equator on the southern hemisphere, or so Ayre thinks, the piercing veil of light is very visible to him. However, he did not know how it existed or what it even was! He, who is unfamiliar with such concepts, tried his best to ignore this seemingly naturally occurring phenomenon.

It did not take long for his ride to be ready. As the son of the governor, he has his own private carriage that he may use everyday at his own will...

...Is what might someone think is convenient, however, he may have a private carriage, he does not have a private road. Whatever he tries will not get him out of being in a little traffic.

F**k! Don't tell me I will miss the sermon again? I dont want to stay in the church for an additional hour for goddess' sake!
