Chapitre 137: Wake Up

I had never felt so much physical and emotional pain as I did right then as I cried on the beach. I did not think I had really experienced heartbreak like how I had then. It felt different because this time Demyan and I had lived the fantasy only for me to realise it would never happen. 

I felt like an idiot for almost proposing to him when the doorbell rang. It was probably God's way of stopping me from committing myself to someone who did not love me. I would have made the biggest mistake of my life. He had taken my heart and so ruthlessly cast it away. 

When I heard the footsteps approach me, I felt my body tense as Demyan's scent wrapped around me and squeezed me so tight it felt like I could barely breathe. He had changed out of the revealing shorts and kaftan to now wear plain black cargo pants and a matching shirt with flip flops.
