'No buts,' Kaylyn sternly refused. She knew William Lowell, and she also knew his parents. Though there was no evidence, Kaylyn had heard the rumours circulating around the Lowell family. 

Not only were they related to the Serpents but they also held control over the local underground bosses. 

Their son was not a good person either. At the age of twelve, that boy seemed to have learnt all the wrong things. Kaylyn didn't wish for her daughter to learn anything twisted from that boy. However, the more she wished for Penelope to be away from Billy, the more her daughter got entangled with him. 

It was to the point where she refused to listen to anything when it came to that boy. 

'Mom, you do not understand,' Penelope said to her mother. She felt angry and upset as she thought that her mother did not understand her. 'He is my only friend and he understands me.'
