Everyone was worried because they were merely waiting for death at that point. There was no way out of the place, and hope slowly dissipated with time. Mu Feng and the other three messengers were overwhelmed by what they had witnessed. They could not see any hope as well for the people, but they could not say it out loud in fear that it would dampen their hopes. They still needed to encourage the people there to the best of their abilities. 

The only hope they could think of was the return of the Lord! "The Lord will come back; she will come back and save us all!"
