Chapitre 29: Chapter 29: The escape

Beneath the aircraft lay a shadow of demise—a battlefield littered with the remnants of Abbadon's forces. The scene spoke of devastation, a silent yet powerful message carved into the land. Boyka and Moyo had no need to torch the area; the lifeless bodies of the enemy were enough to deliver their intent. This was not merely survival—it was a statement, a declaration that resistance still burned bright.

Inside the aircraft, the rescued refugees huddled together, their faces etched with a mix of relief and gratitude. As they soared above the desolation below, a few gathered their courage to address Boyka.

"Thank you, Commander Boyka," one of the refugees said, his voice trembling with sincerity. "You have saved us from a fate we dare not imagine. We owe you everything. But we wish for more than mere gratitude—we want to repay you. If you would train us, we would gladly fight for your cause. Let us stand with you, Commander. Let us join your brigade."

Boyka stood silently for a moment, his gaze fixed on the horizon through the aircraft's window. The weight of leadership bore heavily on his shoulders, but he knew what was required. Turning to the group, his voice was resolute.

"You need not thank me alone," he began, his tone measured. "This victory would not have been possible without my brother-in-arms, Moyo. His courage and determination have been as vital as my own. If I stand tall today, it is because of him."

He paused, allowing his words to settle before continuing.

"As for your wish to join my cause, understand this: it is no easy path. If you choose to fight alongside me, you must be prepared to lay down your lives. Loyalty is not just a word—it is a vow, a bond forged in blood and sacrifice. Many loyal soldiers have already perished to make this day possible. Their sacrifices cannot be in vain, and to honor them, we must be willing to give everything we have. Only through unwavering commitment can we hope to defeat Abbadon and reclaim what he has stolen from us."

Boyka's voice grew sharper, his gaze piercing as he looked at the refugees. "Now tell me—are you truly ready to give your lives for this cause?"

The group answered in unison, their voices firm despite the fear in their eyes. "Yes, Commander. We are ready and willing!"

Boyka nodded, a faint smile of approval touching his lips. "Then you will be trained. Together, we will rise, stronger than ever."

---

Their escape from the planet Nebula was not without challenges. Abbadon's forces had hunted them relentlessly, but through skill, strategy, and sheer determination, they evaded capture. Every close call was a reminder of the stakes, yet every triumph solidified their resolve.

By the time they arrived at the planet Avalon, exhaustion weighed heavily on them, but so did a sense of accomplishment. As the aircraft touched down, the sight of the capital city brought a mix of relief and anticipation. They had returned to familiar soil, but the battles ahead were far from over.

Waiting for them at the landing site was Emperor Morris, a figure of authority and quiet intensity. His expression was unreadable, but his gaze lingered, searching the group for a particular face. Where is she? he wondered silently. Where is my daughter, Princess Asake? The faint hope that Boyka might have rescued her glimmered briefly before dimming.

As Boyka disembarked, Morris stepped forward, his face breaking into a measured smile. "Welcome back, Boyka," the emperor said, his voice calm yet commanding. "You have done well. The prisoners you rescued are safe, and your efforts are recognized."

Boyka inclined his head respectfully. "Thank you, Your Majesty. It was not an easy task, but it was necessary."

Morris nodded, his eyes shifting to Moyo. "And you, Moyo," he said with a slight smile. "Your bravery has not gone unnoticed. You have my gratitude."

Moyo returned the emperor's gaze with a slight bow. "It is an honor to serve, Your Majesty."

The emperor's tone softened as he addressed them both. "Azazel and Rahel have been eagerly awaiting your return. For now, take some time to rest—you've earned it. By dawn, I expect to see both of you at the feast. There is much to discuss and celebrate."

Boyka and Moyo nodded, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten. "We'll be there," Boyka replied firmly.

As the emperor turned to leave, his thoughts lingered on the absence of his daughter. Though the celebration ahead was justified, his heart carried a weight he could not yet share.

---

The refugees, too, were given quarters to rest and recover. Though weary, their spirits were high, buoyed by Boyka's promise of training and purpose. For the first time in a long while, they felt hope—a hope that their hands could shape their future, that they could fight back against the tyranny of Abbadon.

As Boyka and Moyo retired for the evening, they shared a brief moment of quiet reflection.

"Moyo," Boyka said, his voice low, "we've achieved much today, but the road ahead is long. Are you ready for what comes next?"

Moyo smirked, leaning back against the wall. "Brother, we've faced death together more times than I can count. Whatever comes, I'm ready—as long as we face it together."

Boyka chuckled softly, the weight of the day's events lifting just slightly. "Together, then," he said.

And as the planet Avalon slept, Boyka and Moyo prepared themselves for the battles yet to come, knowing that the dawn would bring new challenges, new alliances, and perhaps, the beginnings of victory.
