Chapitre 43: Chapter [43]

Kaito's Room

Kaito lay on the bed, with Asia nestled in his arms. Her expression was serene, showing that she had finally found some peace. The room was calm, illuminated only by the soft moonlight coming through the window. The room was simple but comfortable, with a cozy atmosphere.

*Kaito snored softly*, the regular sound of his breathing filling the room. However, while his body rested, his mind was active, trapped in a strange and disturbing dream.

Flower Field

Kaito found himself in a flower field, but something was wrong. The flowers around him had no color, everything seemed faded and lifeless. The sky above was gray and dull, and the air was heavy with a sense of melancholy. He looked around, trying to understand where he was and what was happening.

In the distance, Kaito saw a familiar figure sitting by a river, staring intently at the water. He began to walk towards the figure, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Each step he took seemed to echo in the oppressive silence of the faded field.

As he approached, Kaito recognized his alter ego, the dark and enigmatic version of himself. The alter ego was sitting on a stone, with translucent wings spread out, reflecting the gray light of the environment. He stared fixedly at the river, a look of deep contemplation on his face.

"Finally, you arrived. I've been waiting for you," said the alter ego, without taking his eyes off the river.

Kaito frowned, still trying to understand what was happening. "Where are we?"

"The only place we can talk is in your dream," replied the alter ego, his voice calm and enigmatic.

Kaito felt a shiver run down his spine. He knew this encounter was not by chance. "Do you know about Grayfia's proposal?"

The alter ego finally looked up to meet Kaito's gaze. "Yes, I know. She made an interesting offer, didn't she? Promoting you to a High-Class Devil, but with a cost."

Kaito hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. "I want to know your opinion. What do you think I should do?"

The alter ego, now more attentive, stood up from the stone and began to walk slowly through the faded flower field. "I feel like we're being manipulated, Kaito. We can't be swayed so easily."

"Then, what should we do?" Kaito asked, his voice full of uncertainty, as he watched the alter ego move through the field.

The alter ego stopped and turned to Kaito, his translucent wings reflecting the gray light around them. "First, call me King. From now on, I am more than just a reflection of you. I am the part of you that does not fear to do what is necessary."

"King, then..." Kaito nodded in understanding. "Regarding Grayfia's proposal, I don't want to distance myself from my family and Asia."

"Asia? You met her yesterday." King looked at Kaito, his expression of skepticism clear.

"Yes, I know. But I feel I need to protect her," Kaito responded, not seeming to care about the short time he had known Asia.

King sighed, shaking his head slightly. "Kaito, fairies tend to attach to pure people. Sometimes, we confuse these feelings with something deeper. You need to be cautious. Don't let a quick connection cloud your judgment."

Kaito remained silent, reflecting on King's words.

"I understand what you're saying, King. But even so, I feel I need to keep her safe." Kaito finally broke the silence, his voice firm.

King sighed deeply, his face reflecting a mixture of frustration and weariness. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to find the patience needed to deal with Kaito.

"You have always been stubborn," King murmured, opening his eyes and looking directly at Kaito. "But that is why I am here, to help you see beyond what is on the surface."

"King, be direct," said Kaito, his expression determined. "We don't have time for beating around the bush. What do you really want to tell me?"

"You need to accept Grayfia's proposal," King replied without hesitation. "This is the best way to protect everyone you love and ensure your own safety."

Kaito frowned, trying to process the suggestion. "Accept the proposal... even if it means distancing myself from everyone?"

King shrugged, his translucent wings fluttering slightly in the breeze. "Take everyone with you, Kaito."

Kaito was perplexed, his gaze fixed on the alter ego. "But... to where? I don't even know where to go."

King smiled, an enigmatic smile that made Kaito feel uncomfortable. "When you turn 16, you will know. Until then, go with the flow."

Kaito didn't like King's smile, feeling irritation growing inside him. "King, don't play with me. I need answers, not riddles."

King approached Kaito, his eyes shining with a mixture of determination and serenity. "Kaito, your transformation is near. When that happens, everything will become clear. Trust me. Until then, keep following the flow of events."

Kaito, irritated, took a step forward, facing King. "Why don't you want to tell me? What is the reason for so much mystery?"

King sighed, crossing his arms while looking at Kaito with a patient expression. "I could tell you, but the truth is, you may not like what you will discover."

"It's not fair," retorted Kaito, feeling the frustration growing. "I have the right to know what's coming."

King shook his head slowly, his wings trembling slightly. "Some truths are too heavy to be carried before the right time. If I tell you now, you might not be ready to handle the consequences."

Kaito clenched his fists, his expression hardening. "I prefer to know the truth, no matter how harsh it is, than to live in ignorance."

King approached, placing a hand on Kaito's shoulder. "I understand your frustration, but you need to trust me. Sometimes, the best path is the one that forces us to grow before facing the truth."

Kaito took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger. "And if I decide that I want to know now? What would you do?"

King smiled again, this time with a touch of sadness. "I would refuse. Because I know that, deep down, this journey is about more than just knowing the truth. It's about preparing for it."

Kaito looked at King, his eyes reflecting a mix of determination and resignation. "So, I have to wait."

King nodded, squeezing Kaito's shoulder lightly before stepping back. "Yes, but know that I am here to guide you. When the time comes, you will be ready."

The flower field began to disappear, and Kaito felt the reality of the dream fading. King's words echoed in his mind as he slowly awoke, feeling the familiar presence of Asia still nestled in his arms.
