Chapitre 5: Accomplishment

Okay, I lied.

I wholeheartedly regret this.

Training with Rok has been brutal, and it's only been two weeks. We started from scratch, erasing whatever I knew and rebuilding it. It was like demolishing an old, ancient building and replacing it with a modern, futuristic structure.

"Again!"

As I inwardly complained, I began doing my daily push-ups. I had to do 100 of these, followed by lifting around 80 pounds. Thankfully, my body was adapting to this vigorous exercise.

Rok and I stood near a large lake. The surface sparkled with a crystal blue hue as the sun shone through the cracks of the dark clouds.

I've noticed that Planet Cereal tends to rain more often, almost as if it were monsoon season. At least the rain is on the light side, making it more drizzle than anything else.

I was grateful for this, as in my old life, I tended to sweat way more than someone normally should, so I always enjoyed it when it was gray and gloomy outside. Although the sun is great for the skin and hair, I tried to avoid going out unless it was absolutely necessary.

As I finished my warmup, Rok gently placed a large vase-like container resembling a pitcher. I immediately picked it up. Its weight was a problem for me a week ago, but now I can easily lift it. I chugged the water inside; my dry throat was quenched, and my body seemed to thank me.

"You're improving at a decent rate. Keep this up, and you'll finish training within a few years."

I remained silent, creating a tense atmosphere. Thanks to reading the calendar in my room, I could pick up on the year, which was supposedly 735. If this is the Minus timeline, Goku is one year old now, while Broly should be three.

So I have roughly two years or less before the Saiyans come here.

Still, I doubt I can destroy the moon at my level, so I'll have to break this body down and repair it. Thankfully, Rok and Crunch are good instructors. Otherwise, I'd make no progress.

After drinking enough water, I put the container down and prepared myself for the next lesson. From what I can tell, it's only midday, and we've been training since 9 a.m.

It's like I'm working a 9-5.

"I'll be testing your agility in this next lesson. Power can't amount to anything if your speed is lacking."

I nodded my head, my eyes fixated with a sharp glint. Rok cracked his fingers before unexpectedly firing ki blasts at me. My eyes widened briefly before I jumped to the side.

I felt the mossy grass beneath my feet flatten with each step I took, and my heart thumped against my chest. I felt my adrenaline kick in as I sidestepped, rolled, and jumped out of the way of the ki blasts.

My reaction speed was increasing slowly, which I was thankful for since having great reaction speeds in Dragon Ball was imperative.

After dodging the ki blasts with incredible speed, my eyes widened as I saw a green hand approaching me, and like before, I dodged, but my mistake revealed itself as I saw the Namekian pull himself forward.

He used this trick in our first meeting, and just like in our first meeting, I was struck by his knee again. I felt the blood flow out my nose as I rolled like a doll on the ground.

It wasn't until I caught a glimpse of a giant piece of rock that I realized how he pulled himself forward. Rok was a crafty fighter, blending his experience and natural ability.

The gap between us was evident.

I couldn't help but scoff at my lack of awareness. I completely forgot that the surroundings can change the flow of battle, and I haven't acknowledged that fact.

I felt a wave of frustration bubble within me as I scraped my fingers through the dirt.

"You're still falling for that trick."

Thanks, Captain Obvious!

What bothered me was that Rok didn't sound disappointed or sympathetic about my blunder. His voice always remained eerily calm and passive, like an enlightened hermit.

"I know that, but I succeed in dodging the feint, which ends up with me getting struck anyway by the real attack."

"That just means the feint is working as intended. You must be willing to do whatever it takes to win. You can't expect a fair fight against anyone, no matter how honorable they may seem."

Was Rok not an honorable Namekian? He gave the impression that he was, but that can explain how he fights. He uses everything around him, resorting to devious tactics while blending them with the fairness a Namekian warrior exudes.

It may sound strange, but this taught me something. I realized I was still viewing this as an illusion, ignoring the reality that I was stuck in this once-fictional world.

I felt the breeze slip through my hair, and my eyes, fixated on the dirt, narrowed as I felt a purpose bloom within me.

Fiction and reality are two sides of the same code, like hope, despair, love, and hate.

This means I can use what I've seen as fiction and make it a reality!

Cerealians are capable of close-quarters combat. I can apply that to how humans fight with their various martial arts and combine that with a Cerealian's advanced right eye and marksmanship.

I stood up, and Rok, with his keen senses, narrowed his eyes, studying me as he noticed the aura within me change. He tried to remain calm, but he instinctively took a step back.

"Seems you've found your resolve, yes?"

"I'm ready once again, teacher!"

Rok nodded. His stance shifted slightly, but he remained the same. His hands clasped together behind his back, his jaw clenched, and his bright yellow eyes blazed with the ferocity of a sun.

"This time, we'll fight with all our strength. Remember to remain aware of everything, feel the flow of the calm air, and the unbending will of the planet."

These words were wise. I let myself enter a state of peace, and the wind began to blow, soothing my skin, while the ground remained stalwart in its never-ending stoicism.

A lone leaf flew through the middle before softly landing on the ground. I rushed forward. My eyes remained on my target as I began my assault. My height was a major downside, so I had to jump up and unleash a storm of high-speed punches and kicks.

Rok widened his eyes. It looked like he was expecting a different situation, but his shock was brief. He began to move his body while gracefully avoiding my attacks. His footwork was as fluid as water and as tranquil as spring.

In other words, he quickly adapted to the change and remained one step ahead. I couldn't stay airborne long, and I fell back down. That's when he decided to strike; his right hand descended, and from what I could tell, he was going for some sort of karate chop.

I raised my right hand, straightening it as I stopped the incoming attack with my wrist, but I didn't stop as I used my left hand to strike at Rok's knee. His eyes snapped as he felt himself spin as I exerted enough force to utilize this technique.

He spun in the air before crashing into the ground a few feet away to my right. I didn't allow him to recover, and my fingers quickly formed finger guns.

And like before, they shot off like homing missiles, so I decided to name this type of finger gun "Type U." It's a bit stupid, but I needed to differentiate between each shot type I use.

If you didn't know, I found a way to change how my ki blasts work. Of course, it's still in the early stages as my ki control still needs refining, but I'll eventually create several forms.

Just trust the process!

Rok rolled to safety, hiding behind the tree line. I didn't let up my ki blasts, as something I noticed in Dragon Ball is that giving your opponents a chance to breathe would bring about a disastrous outcome.

I saw a blur, but I was prepared for it. My right eye worked its magic, and everything became clearer. I saw Rok dodge my bullets, so I stopped shooting with my left hand and created a ki orb that grew in size.

Rok inched closer; his movements didn't stagnate but increased, and this time, he threw his hand at me, but I wasn't going to fall for it!

I stopped shooting from my right hand and used this opportunity to let the outstretched hand grab me by the collar of my shirt. Rok had no choice but to retract, so I was pulled as well, and using the ki blast in my free hand, I threw it at his face, which caused a large explosion.

Although it didn't seem like much…I felt I accomplished something.

That's all that matters, right?

AN: Sorry, this was late. I had a busier week than anticipated, but I managed to get this out. This marks chapter 5, and I've decided to continue the story. The reception has been surprisingly positive, and it would be a waste to stop it here.

Suppose you guys want ages so far. Goku and Broly should be the same.

Broly (Super) - 3 (was born 732)

Goku - 1 (Born 734)

Granolah - 7 (Born 728)

It is currently 735.

Once again, sorry for getting Granolah's age wrong. It's been a while since I read the Granolah arc (Can you blame me?)

Like always, please let me know what you think.
