Chapitre 12: Chapter 12 : Mirror Divination

Yu Xiaogang clad in a black short-sleeved shirt, maintained a stern expression.

Tang San wore a white school uniform, his eyes brimming with aggression.

Seeing these two individuals waiting, Jiang Yi suddenly entertained the idea of shutting down the business for the day.

Those who crossed paths with Tang San became his younger brothers or met a dire fate.

Jiang Yi wanted nothing to do with this man.

And Yu Xiaogang himself is also a hypocrite. There is no useless martial spirit, only a useless soul master.

Then why haven't you broken through to level 30 yourself?

The notion of closing shop for a day crossed Jiang Yi's mind, but he quickly dismissed it. The dividends brought by the city lord's wife would eventually run out.

During this period, Jiang Yi needed to strive to retain customers, laying the groundwork for financial security in the future.

"May I have a divination?" Jiang Yi heard the question even before he sat down.

Due to yesterday's events, Yu Xiaogang's demeanor was notably chilly this time.

"Of course!" Jiang Yi wasn't about to be courteous to someone who came to pay.

"Divine the future for me," Yu Xiaogang requested, his voice softening now that he knew divination was possible.

Seeing this, Tang San, who had been glaring, eased his hostility.

Truthfully, Yu Xiaogang wanted to know the solution or hope for his martial soul issue.

"Shuffle the cards!" Ignoring the two men's stares, Jiang Yi commenced the divination.

Soon, three Tarot cards lay before Yu Xiaogang.

"Past, present, future." Jiang Yi gestured to the cards, indicating their respective significances, then motioned for Yu Xiaogang to proceed.

Without hesitation, Yu Xiaogang flipped the card representing the future: the green-faced fanged devil card.

"This card symbolizes a grim future," Jiang Yi explained casually, pocketing the silver soul coin Yu Xiaogang had placed on the stall.

"What does it mean?" Yu Xiaogang's expression turned solemn upon seeing the devil card, while Tang San prepared to intervene.

"It suggests a future of desperation. I don't have specific details; after all, divination isn't omnipotent." Jiang Yi rolled his eyes at Tang San's readiness for action, delivering his explanation in a lighthearted tone.

Tang San, glanced at by Jiang Yi, felt a cold sweat forming on his palms.

Did this man notice something?

How could he?

The Silent Hidden Blade technique concealed all abnormalities unless one possessed the purple demon eyes. What was going on with this man?

After voicing his thoughts, Jiang Yi was momentarily stunned. Some unknown energy within him was converted into soul power.

Divination isn't a cure-all!

It was a qualifying statement or guideline.

"Can we divine a way to avoid such a future?" Initially skeptical, Yu Xiaogang found divination plausible after yesterday's experience.

"Sorry, I'm not a prophet." Jiang Yi had no straightforward answer to Yu Xiaogang's query.

How could they change Yu Xiaogang's future?

Isn't it simple? Just eliminate Tang San.

But Jiang Yi couldn't possibly suggest that.

"Would you mind if I examine the remaining two cards?" Yu Xiaogang's acceptance of Jiang Yi's response wasn't surprising; after all, who could predict the future with certainty?

So he turned his attention to the remaining tarot cards, hoping to glean insights into his potential future.

"That's your prerogative," Jiang Yi replied with a slight smile, seeing no need to delay the process.

Yu Xiaogang revealed the card symbolizing the past: an old man in a white divine robe standing in a church.

It was Jiang Yi's customized Pope card.

"The Pope Card suggests you're an authoritative figure in a certain profession," Jiang Yi interpreted, noticing a sarcastic smile on Yu Xiaogang's lips.

That puzzled Jiang Yi. Shouldn't the word "pope" elicit a different reaction?

What was behind that smile?

Jiang Yi didn't dwell on it. That involved prominent figures beyond his purview.

"Let's proceed to the card representing the present!" Yu Xiaogang masked his expression well, but Jiang Yi caught a glimpse of his sarcastic smile.

Turning over the last card revealed an ascetic monk, Jiang Yi's custom Temperance Card.

"The Temperance Card suggests recent physical or spiritual malaise," Jiang Yi concluded before collecting the tarot cards.

Yu Xiaogang, opposite Jiang Yi, was taken aback. Could such insights be gleaned directly from divination?

While the soul master world was aware of the flaws in his martial soul, the man before him was just a peddler!

"Can you divine a solution?" Yu Xiaogang's hope reignited. The man before him had discerned his martial soul's problem—perhaps he could provide a solution.

"I can try, but success isn't guaranteed." Jiang Yi saw an opportunity to engage Yu Xiaogang, possibly making him a willing test subject.

"Thank you!" Yu Xiaogang's eyes widened, his hands trembling with excitement.

Though uncertain of success, this was the only lead Yu Xiaogang had in years.

Tang San's excitement mirrored Yu Xiaogang's. He knew the flaw in Yu Xiaogang's martial spirit.

If this man could resolve the issue, Tang San could forgive his deception.

Ignoring the two, Jiang Yi retrieved a mirror from his pack. Having become a genuine fortune teller, Jiang Yi had diversified his divination methods beyond tarot cards.

Mirror divination was his choice this time.

"A drop of blood," Jiang Yi said, handing a knife to Yu Xiaogang.

Without hesitation, Yu Xiaogang nicked his finger, letting a drop of blood fall onto the mirror.

Jiang Yi injected soul power without delay.

"A solution to the flaw in his martial soul!"

After seven consecutive prayers, the blood on the mirror surged, turning it from silver to blood-red.

Images began to materialize.

A sparkling lake.

A silent and deep seabed.

Red and blue springs.

Just as more images were about to appear, Jiang Yi felt a sudden sense of foreboding. Ending the divination abruptly, he heard a sharp click.

The blood-red hue vanished, and the mirror shattered.
