Chapitre 2: Water and Fire
If anyone could describe the personalities of Dugu Sheng and Dugu Yan, it would be like water and fire.
Dugu Sheng was calm and collected, while Dugu Yan was proud and arrogant. They both inherited one side of the Poison Douluo, Dugu Bo.
"Sheng, how do feel about your upcoming Awakening Ceremony? You scared? I bet your going to awaken a trash spirit, like Blue Silver Grass!"
"Actually, Blue Silver Grass isn't a trash spirit. Blue Silver Grass is a grass that grows in all places. It is the most resilient plant, and is the spirit with the most prosperous life energy among plant-types. It also has many evolutions, such as the Blue Silver King and the Blue Silver...."
Dugu Yan grimaced.
"Ugh, shut up! Why do you have to go into a lecture every time I insult you? Why don't you snap back like a normal person?"
Dugu Sheng rolled his eyes.
His sister Dugu Yan had a poisonous tongue, but he knew she was kind at heart. She was just trying to lighten the mood and make Dugu Sheng loosen up, but since she was so prideful, she insulted him instead.
To be honest, he was quite nervous. His future depended on this ceremony, and he didn't have any way to affect the outcome.
Dugu Sheng was a genius, and excelled in most aspects. He took in Dugu Bo's teachings like a fish in water. Although they tested him in various fields, the one's he were especially good at were poison and alchemy.
To him, effort and talent allowed him to defy the odds and change the outcome. As long as he had enough time to prepare, Dugu Sheng was confident he could pass every test that came his way. So knowing that their was something he couldn't prepare for was nerveracking.
Seeing Dugu Sheng's face in deep thought, Dugu Yan laughed.
"Don't worry brother. Even if you turn out useless, I'm still here! My greatness evens out your stupidity, so it's fine if you fail. You are after all, a member of the Dugu family."
A warm feeling coursed through Dugu Sheng's chest. Even though he was adopted, they treated him as one of their own and never alienated him. He loved his family, and was willing to die for them.
'They'll die soon anyway.'
This dark thought flashed his head, and Dugu Sheng felt like a bucket of cold water was dumped on him.
That's right. With the Dugu family poison, there chances of living were quite slim. Dugu Sheng worked hard, not just because he wanted to impress his father, but also because he wanted find a cure for them.
Digging his nail into his palms, he looked forward with a look of determination in his eyes.
'I'll save them no matter what it takes.'
