Chapitre 1: 1

Nick let out a sigh as he stared out the window. It would not be long g before the day ended, and he could not wait for it to be over. Today was a special day, the last day he would have to spend at the hell they called high school. If it had been the past then perhaps most of the seniors would have skipped today, as it was useless to really be here. Grades had already been finalized, in a way their career as students was already over.

But this year was different. A few months ago the government had required every person who was graduating to take a blood test. With all of the diseases coming out lately it was not really a surprise, but for nick it was kind of a bummer. He had wanted to get in line early for the new Divine Destiny game. This one was supposed to have the option for being a first person shooter. The game promised to give him a combination of what he had always loved most in games, shooting and magic.

There would always be games that attempted the combination, some of them were actually semi successful. The Divine fantasy series was different. It mixed the two perfectly, if one chose to be a gun slinger that is. You could also be a mage, a swordsman, or anything you wanted really. Classes truly did not exist in those games, you just build your character with the skills you wanted.

He sighed as he once again looked at the line in front of him. They were in alphabetical order, with his last name being Marshall he was stuck smack dab in the middle of the line. Thankfully he wasn't one of those unfortunate souls who had a Z for their last name. Maybe he would still be able to snag one of the games tonight.

As he was lost in thought over the game he had been dreaming of it was finally his turn to enter the room in front of him. The room had no windows, and a total of three doors. The door he used to enter, a door that led to a hallway, and a third door that led to an adjoining room. The third door was shut, but he could hear a couple of voices whispering behind it.

He shook his head as he realized the students on the other side must have tested positive for whatever disease they were testing for. Those poor souls he thought to himself. With the government going this far to test for it then the disease must have been no joke.

The doctor in front of him did not seem to have special protective gear, other than the standard get up when handling blood, so they must not have feared it being transmitted. The doctor gestured for him to have a seat in only chair in the room. It was a typical chair you would see in the lab.

Nick did not hesitate to sit in the chair, the faster he got this over with the faster he could get in line for his game. He impatiently gestured for the Doctor to get on with it as he bared his arm for the blood extraction.

The doctor surprised him by instead pricing his finger with a small needle, extracting a single drop of blood. Nick winced at the sharp pain in his finger, but watched as the doctor dumped the drop of his blood into a small vial of liquid.

The blood sizzles as it hits the liquid. A small cloud of blue smoke appears before it quickly dissipates. The doctors eyes open in shock for a moment before disappearing not even a moment later.

"That's it, if you will follow me to the door ok the side we just need a little more of your time."

To Nick's dismay the room he was led to was not the one that led to exit, rather it was the room to the side that he had heard the voices from before. He was now one of those poor souls that he had felt for only moments before. He could feel the game getting further away by the second. He had to stop this!

"There must be some mistake, can we take the test again? I'm not sick! I never get sick! The worst I've ever had was been exhausted from playing video games all day!!"

The doctor was relentless as he took Nick to the room. He dejectedly took a seat as he checked his phone. It was still early, 2:34 to be exact. If they hurried through this he might still get the game. If only had been able to preorder it! But they were sold out seconds after it hit the shelf.

He sighed as he looked around the room. Two students sat across the room from him, he recognized both of them. They were twins, but they could not be more different. The boy was a complete nerd, his body seemed to be stunted in growth, but his mind was something else. He stood less than 5 feet tall, wore glasses and had red hair and freckles.

He had become a chess grandmaster at the age of 10. From there he had moved up in scale and self studied science and medicine. Rumor had it that he had already earned enough credits to graduate med school by 13, but his parents still insisted he attend high school to work on his "Social skills". Not that it helped, the kid was completely anti social, believing that the common students were beneath his notice.

His sister in contrast was a rising star in athletics. She was around 5'7 and had long blond hair. Her ears were gaged to a decent size. She had studied martial arts from a young age, and had once took down the entire football team when she caught them picking on her brother. She took part in local mma competitions and had quickly gained a reputation as a ruthless opponent.

Their names were Dylan and Sara Jackson. They belonged to a well to do family, but that did not make them popular. Instead they were outsiders. Their unique skills often making them outcasts.

He nodded in their direction as he again looked at his phone when it vibrated. A look of panic crossed his face as he read the incoming message. The local stores had just sold out of it, meaning he would have to download it when he got home. He angrily punched the seat next to him. "FUCK!" He screamed. He had just lost out on the chance for the bonus items because of this stupid disease.

His outburst had drawn the attention of the twins. "What's wrong Nick? Is this getting in the way of your high score?" Dylan snickered as he looked at him.

The two had a past, Dylan had heard of his addiction to games and challenged him to a match. Dylan was a well known genius, and that leader over into games as well. Their match had been on a popular first person shooter at the time, and by a stroke of luck Nick had managed to break their tie scores in the end.

This had enraged Dylan, who never lost at anything. He had played for weeks to get better, only to beat in seconds by Nick. The process continued for an entire year before Dylan finally gave up. He could only chase after Nick's coat tails when it came to video games. Dylan had never really gotten over it, and had mocked him ever since. This did not get in the way of their friendship though, all that time playing together had formed a slight comradery between the two. On the surface it might seem weird, but it worked.

"Do you even know why we are here? What kind of disease is it?"

Dylan shrugged "I don't know? I just know my blood produced green smoke, while Sara had Yellow."

"Mine was blue. I wonder what it means?"

"They will tell us when it's all over I'm sure."
