Chapitre 34: Chapter 34: Alchemist Quarry

Once I got in the distance of visiting the village I have to admit now that I know of the chemicals in the air I can see why as when I entered inside the village, I can see people are experimenting around here.
From what I can gather this village is more modern compared to most areas in this place since everyone here practices the arts of alchemy.
The homes here are the same as my world with some stone or wooden homes in this place. But what catches my eyes was an actual laboratory that this place has as I can smell the chemicals in the area.
While looking around I have to admit that this place certainly looks interesting as I saw some people dressed as scientists but others normal people. The issue though is that they keep on talking about different subjects that I don't understand.
But two words did ring out as I recognize the terms being used.
Alchemy and Dorothea.
The scientific area in this place as well as modern buildings along with what I believe to be some Golems in the area being controlled then this place must be an alchemy related village now that's rare.
From what I recall what my old man said about Alchemy he explained it as something being taboo of sorts since it breaks away from the people's path of God.
To which I say a load of full fucking shit.
What I came to learn is that people here are superstitious about the ways alchemy works and base it off on witchcraft as they have no understanding of alchemy as people just hate on it because of its natural uses of science to break their faith with logic.
The use of alchemy of some religions in some parts of the Empire because they make similar with magic as alchemist like to explain their reasoning making more of the religions people hate on the alchemist community.
At least that was the info I got about from the Eastern Region about the subjects of alchemy from the barmaid, but I was more surprised that Dorothea lives around this place.
For someone like her with world-class talent that even Syura recruited I have to admit she's good at what she does especially the fact that she used body modifications on herself to easily handle against Leone strength when she had her [Lionel] active.
Syura noted she also is an alchemist as well as has many body modifications and that she has a world-class talent just like the other Wild Hunt members. She is very old, however, combined with her alchemy and Teigu, she looks very young.
Her Teigu is called the Blood Collection: Absordex as that little tool allows someone to become a sort of vampire that took the shapes of fangs.
Dorothea used her Teigu to bite enemies to kill them, while also sucking out their blood. The victims of [Abosorbdex] bite desiccated but the details of this process aren't known yet. After absorbing blood from an enemy, Dorothea's strength and regenerative abilities became enhanced.
Heck, she even makes mention that the taste of the blood varies depending on the victims. And that my blood is said to contain the highest amount of nutritional value while a normal death row inmate possesses a small amount of taste.
Maybe I should be concerned about my wellbeing…
However, when she starts to lose her powers, her facade disappears. Despite her small build, she possesses enhanced physical strength which she gained through bodily modifications, able to toss a grown man high in the air and even single-handedly suppress Leone.
According to Syura, her alchemy and Stylish's science could have been combined had that man lived and even went on ahead to even improve the Stylish's Humanoid Danger Beasts and reproduced them even after his death.
She also mutated Cosmina after her brain death to a Danger Beast Hybrid and implanted a Philosopher's Stone on her chest which allowed her to live even after being cut by Murasame….
Hold the fuck…
My eyes widen at this as I forgot that something like a Philosopher's Stone exist in this world and that stone allowed Dorothea to survive after one cut from Murasame.
Damn now I want to learn alchemy just to recreate a Philosopher Stone just so I can prepare for a fight against Gozuki in the future or Akame. Maybe I should take my time to ask her to become her student or something to learn from her.
Maybe I can offer up my blood in return or something else like information hell I'll even trade a Teigu just to be her student. While in the manga I can at least say she's a very gray color character I can at least trust a bit and not completely evil.
Eh…
Maybe just borderline evil considering she drinks her victims dry of their blood but hey I kill a lot of people before so not that big of a difference honestly. Just lesser of the two evils then if that is the case.
The only reason I'm even considering asking for her help is that I remember some events in the manga as while she never took part in the mass rape, she nevertheless killed people solely out of boredom.
At least I can know if she'll be a threat if she wants to but for now, I need the power to be able to stand my ground. As the saying goes absolute power trumps everything down even corruption and greed.
Still, though her knowledge of body modifications might come in handy and maybe I can pick up a few things from this place to learn more about the arts of alchemy.
So with that in my mind, I began to search around the place as I saw some other alchemist looking at me as I got close to one and I asked a few questions about the place. The alchemist was wary of me because I was outside their village.
But once I got interested in the topic of learning alchemy they seemed to be genuinely surprised by the fact and even told me a few things about the place even going as far as explaining the chemicals in the air are self-generated Danger Beast repellent in the air which honestly surprised me.
A self-replicating chemical that forces the Danger Beast away from the home village they named Alchemist Quarry.
I got confused how they called it a quarry without the actual mines till they told me they have their golems dig for new materials for them to use in their alchemic research on the outskirts of their village.
I only nodded in understanding of it as there were a few ground and cave-type Danger Beast that lives inside the quarry so they have their golems do the fighting as they have to pick up the minerals and rocks from their personalities.
Have to admit this place is by far the most advanced I have seen yet in this supposed magical and science-filled world considering the general definition of technology is confusing to grasp.
Getting to know them I then asked another question to the two alchemists in a curious tone to them, "Say do you two happen to know where exactly is the world-class renowned alchemist Dorothea happens to be here? I was wondering of studying on some of her research notes if possible?"
At that, the two just sighs at that made me raise an eyebrow as one of them responds to me with some concern but little worry, "You are looking to become that old hag student? We'll be your guess kid, but that Dorothea is short-tempered and a bit on the crazy side of her alchemy. Although I have heard she is looking for a hunter for hire as of late to get more Danger Beast parts or cores for her research, but they are always the Class 1, Special, or sometimes rarely the Super ones."
Hunter huh?
A hunter is a term used by the people that the label means to them that the hunter always hunts Danger Beast for money or sports. There's even a Hunting Guild for them in the case large amounts of Danger Beast started to attack other settlements of the villages.
When you think about it, they are mercenaries so long as the topic of Danger Beast was on the table they'll be interested in the subject.
Wait did he say she knows where a Super Class is at!!
Hearing this I couldn't help but say that word out loud as I was surprised to two but quickly apologized soon after in disbelief, "Wait she knows where to find some Super Class Danger Beasts!! Oh, sorry about my voice but… she knows where to find them!"
Honestly, I was a little surprised by the fact that she knows a location of a Super Class Danger Beast. The Super Class are wanting nothing to want with anything weaker to it as they tend to be by themselves not wanting to make an appearance.
They have their special territories because their mere exitance changes the whole ecosystem and the Empire hasn't been near nor has recorded that if there are more Super Class Danger Beasts.
Hell even meeting a Super Class was equal to meeting a legendary Pokémon they are around just very hard or near impossible to collect or find.
But another reason why they don't make such an appearance is that those monsters are equivalent to basically enough to cause natural phenomena and disasters. Any sane person would want to steer clear of them unless they have the strength to match up to them.
In a way, they are similar to Elder Dragons in Monster Hunter games in an oddly unique way.
Returning to a conversation I nodded my head at the two as I was confident with my skills as I spoke to them with confidence, "Well I happen to be pretty decent at hunting so I bet I could take a few on. Would you mind taking me in the direction of where she is kind sirs?"
From that, they looked at me with pity as one of them sighs as he began to explain to me the direction of where to go, "Sigh… sure kid it's your funereal. Just go by the rocky formation path from there then go straight into the forest you'll see a big stone castle surrounded by golems can't miss them. Just knock on the door of the gates she'll come herself to see ya. Well, then good luck kid."
Nodding at this I began my path to where the direction is at it can't be that hard right?

Ok, I stand very corrected because what the guy failed to mention was the fact that the forest was filled with a pack of Class 2 and 1 Danger Beast that lives in this area. And these guys are not making it easy for me to get near the Dorothea home.
I had to use my [Conqueror Haki] and my [Big Leaguer] orbs to get by as I had my halberd in my hand already stained with blood on its ax, scythe, and spear tip from a large number of Danger Beast in the area.
I can't help but also noticed the fact that every single one of them happens to be much fucking stronger than the norm. But the auras of the beast are odd as I sensed them using [Observation Haki] they all had a weird dinted color to them.
If I was a betting man, then I would say all of these Danger Beast have been experimented on to improve their strength drastically. I have to wonder what Dorothea did to make them into true beasts.
No matter all I have to do is get to her and ask if not then I'll cut off my losses for now though I still have to survive just to get to her castle first.
