"Happy birthday Damon..." Isla sniffles. "it's the first time I'm spending your birthday with you, but you're..." the words choked in her throat. She was trying to stop herself from crying. 

But what could she do? He'd been in this position for two whole days now. Not even twitching once. 

"You're not even looking at me... I'm sorry, because of me you're bedridden on your birthday. I'm sorry Damon." She sobbed, holding onto his palm, resting her head on it, hoping her tears would wake him up like it happens in fantasy movies and cartoons. 

"Don't you think it's time you open your eyes huh? I've met your mom. She's really sweet, just like you used to be. Your dad is nice too. You have a wonderful family Damon" she presses her lips on his knuckles.
