During her stay with Lucy, Jessica slowly became close friends with her. At first, Lucy was very annoying with all the questions about her job.
But since Lucy began to help her in cleaning their room and helping with small cases and Jessica couldn't help but appreciate her help.
Lucy slowly became Jessica's assistant.
Jessica's partner no.1 was James - a diehard fan turned friend of Alex Howlett, he runs a shop that rents costumes and props for dances, dramas, etc. Jessica's detective agency's office is located inside his rental shop. He is a middle-aged loner who is health conscious to paranoid levels. He has been a well-wisher, companion, and fatherly figure for Jessica in all her adventures. He owns a Volkswagen Beetle which is as old as himself.
Meanwhile, her second partner Tom is a college dropout whose expertise in small-scale hacking, spy camera skills, etc comes in handy to the detective agency.
Cases were a rarity for them and even when something comes up its usually petty issues like pre-matrimonial checks on alliances, doubtful husbands suspicious about wife's cheating, etc…
One such case was that of a police officer's wife who wanted evidence of her husband cheating on her. Jessica and the team shadowed, Deputy Superintendent Robert and gets pictures, chat, and video evidence proving his illicit relationship with a public prosecutor and hand over the evidence to his wife. This doesn't go down well with the officer who wants to find out the ones who gave his wife all these photos and videos.
Jessica and the team decide to stay low for some time. Jessica is forced to go to her hometown, where her mother and brother live. Her brother, James who was working as a bank employee was getting some marriage proposals at that time. Jessica visits her home very rarely and even those visits get messy with her mother, who was a teacher and the sole breadwinner for the family for larger parts of her life. Her mother wants Jessica to quit the detective job and get settled with a "proper" job and family. She often asks her to try and learn from her brother who was the perfect boy her mother dreamed of.
Parallel to all this another significant incident was causing headlines in the town. Retired Inspector General Richard Ross is now a very popular YouTuber who garner millions of views by sharing real-life crime stories during his service years. He runs a show called "Case Diaries of ROSS" which has a huge fan base and aspiring young policemen consider him a role model.
The recently released trailer of the show's latest episode creates a huge controversy all over the state. In the released clip he makes serious allegations against Minister Ethan Murdock regarding a murder that happened in the 1990s in which he labels the minister who was then the students union chairman in a leading Engineering college in the state involved in a political murder on the campus. He was saved by the influence of his father Minister Christopher Murdock and the police were forced to end the investigation as an accident under heavy political pressure at that time.
This video goes viral on social media and videos with thumbnails labeling the Minister as a Killer in disguise began circulating. The minister who is now in his early 40s is a youth icon known for his clean image and progressive political stands get trapped in a very difficult spot.
He seeks ways to block the streaming of the episodes and take down Richard's YouTube channel. Ethan using his political influence gets Richard arrested for an old bribery case and he is shifted to prison. Opposition and media blame the arrest of Richard as a vengeance ploy of the minister.
Richard who was awaiting bail and planning for some bigger reveal when he gets out of prison under quite suspicious circumstances develops cardiac arrest from jail and is shifted to a hospital under critical condition. Theories that Richard was poisoned in jail by the police under the orders of the minister began circulating on social media.
Minister Ethan is now under strong political pressure from both the opposition as well as enemies from his party.
