Chapitre 27: Chapter 26

After the interview with Bruce Wayne ended, it was Dani and Jennifer's turn.

Kara didn't pay much attention to Bruce, as she had already determined that if Bruce was going to become Batman in the future, he certainly wasn't him yet.

So, she lost interest.

It was Bruce who paid special attention to Kara as she passed by and left.

This worried Jennifer a lot, and she was almost ready to accuse Kara of stealing the spotlight.

Kara could only remind her that it would soon be her turn, and if she didn't go in, she would leave a bad impression on the examiner, which would directly affect her grades.

Jennifer had no choice but to give in.

When Bruce left, Dani shrugged and said, "That gloomy and melancholic vibe... No wonder Jennifer, being such a nympho, has her eyes on him."

Kara shot a sideways glance at Dani, then turned her head and continued looking at the pamphlets she was holding.

It was the guide to Metropolitan University. Unlike previous college guides, this one was a detailed presentation of the university, including the course rankings and types of clubs.

What Kara was reviewing now was the section on clubs.

Some were research-oriented, others focused on sports, and there were also clubs for various enthusiasts, such as photography and journalism lovers.

In addition, there were clubs for tea ceremonies, chess, billiards, and more.

What interested Kara the most were the fighting clubs, such as taekwondo, karate, judo, and even a Chinese kung fu club. However, Kara had her doubts, as the head of the club was a white man. Did he really know kung fu?

"Are you thinking of joining one of these?" Dani asked, doubting Kara's choice as she peeked at the pamphlet. Was she the kind of person who liked kung fu?

"I just want to get some exercise," Kara said casually with a smile.

"More exercise?" Dani thought that helping around the family farm was already enough exercise, wasn't it?

Moreover, Jennifer had planned to live at the Kent house for a while.

After a while, when Jennifer came out of her interview, it was finally Dani's turn.

"Where's that guy?" Jennifer asked about Bruce's whereabouts as soon as she came out.

Dani was annoyed. She had just been cheering Jennifer on, and now she was already forgetting her friends.

Only Kara approached Dani to give her a high-five, wishing her good luck.

In response to Jennifer's question, Kara could only shake her head, signaling that Bruce had left earlier.

Jennifer was quite disappointed. She always felt that there was something indescribable about him. There was an indelible sadness and melancholy in his eyes, along with a touch of decay. That kind of person was the hardest for girls to forget.

Kara sighed and said, "Miss Nympho, you should be thinking about whether you can pass the exam. What would you do if we meet him again at school?"

Jennifer then shifted her concerns to joy. That's right, if he had also been interviewed, maybe he'd become her classmate in the future.

Kara thought to herself that Jennifer was really optimistic, so she casually said, "Metropolitan University is so big. What are the chances of randomly running into someone?"

"By the way, Kara, what major did you apply for?" Jennifer asked curiously, finally returning to normal.

Without hesitation, Kara replied, "Psychology."

"Are you planning to be a counselor in the future?" Jennifer asked, intrigued.

Kara smiled and didn't say anything. Definitely not, but she planned to use psychology to break the spirit of criminals when she fought against them in the future. And if one day she encountered the Joker, she wanted to try making a joke, even if she couldn't win. At least, she wouldn't let him manipulate her.

What Kara didn't mention was that she really wanted to specialize in criminal psychology.

Whether or not she could fully grasp the subject didn't concern her too much. After all, any help was better than none.

After Dani finished her interview, the three girls took the train back together. The notification with the results would be sent by letter a week later. They were all confident they had passed.

Their families were also pleased, and they gathered at the Kent farm to celebrate. They bought plenty of ingredients, set up a grill, and organized a barbecue.

Jennifer's father was a businessman who ran a small company in a nearby town.

Dani's parents had a dental practice.

None of them were extremely wealthy, but all three families belonged to the middle-class, comfortable lifestyle.

Due to the close relationship between the three girls, their families had stayed in touch over the years.

Jennifer, Dani, and Clark had known each other for a long time, and they often joked around without restraint. They even teased Clark, asking if he would feel lonely once Kara went off to college.

Kara found their teasing amusing, but fortunately, she had already reassured Clark beforehand. He didn't let them get to him, saying that his sister had promised to visit every week or, at the very least, once a month, so he wouldn't feel alone.

Since classes didn't start right away and there was still some time before the new semester began, Kara mostly stayed at home.

She helped with the farm work and spent more time with her adoptive parents and Clark.

Even though her friends invited her out, Kara didn't have many friends besides Dani and Jennifer.

But Dani and Jennifer were different. They had other friends and spent time with their families, so it wasn't easy for them to hang out all the time.

At the end of August, Kara finally began her university life.

The new semester was about to start. She brought her belongings, and along with Dani and Jennifer, they decided to arrive at the university a day early to settle in and collect the keys to their assigned rooms.

Perhaps because they came from the same place, they were assigned to a three-person dormitory, allowing them to take better care of each other.

On the first day of classes, Jennifer kept looking around as if searching for someone.

It seemed she still hadn't forgotten about Bruce.

Kara smiled and said, "Maybe you'll unexpectedly run into him in your first class tomorrow."

It turned out Kara was right, but it wasn't Jennifer who ran into Bruce—it was Kara.

When Kara arrived at the classroom and sat down, she was surprised to see Bruce sitting next to her, flashing a friendly smile.

"Why is he here?" Kara thought.

Then it clicked—Batman was a master of psychology, possibly the best detective, strategist, and problem-solver in the world.

Psychology was absolutely essential for him.

Perhaps both of them were taking this course for the same reason.

At Bruce's gesture, Kara smiled back and nodded in greeting.

Up to that point, it could be called a coincidence. But when Kara went to various fighting clubs to sign up and found Bruce at each one, she really began to think this was too much of a coincidence.
