It happened.
A great power was born on the earth, in the world of the living once again.
Henka no Megami, the goddess of change, stared down at the beautiful baby girl who had been born.
The mother, a raven-haired beauty with dark coal eyes and pale skin, cradled the child close to her body, happy that her baby had at long last been born. The goddess of flame, Hono no Megami, resided in that woman's soul, granting her incredible power and strength, along with her being part soul reaper and Quincy.
The father, a powerful soul reaper captain with silver hair, turquoise eyes, and tan skin sat beside the mother. He had the god of ice, Kori no Kami, resided in his soul, allowing him to use the power of Hyorinmaru, Kori's blessed weapon, at an incredibly young age.
The ultimate prodigy, a human blessed by a goddess, and a child born from the two.
The children of the gods having their own children.
A terrifying thing to be sure. 'Terrifying,' Henka thought while closing her crystal eyes, 'but beautiful.'
After opening her silver lashes to reveal now turquoise eyes, Henka descended from the heavenly realm in the form of a snow storm, racing to the god child that had been born.
'Please,' she thought,'please live until I get there.'
'Shirayuki.'

Karin was the happiest woman alive.
It had taken months of pain, and then hours of agony, but she had finally delivered her child.
Her coal black eyes stared at her child with love, and turned to face her husband, Toshiro. His turquoise ones were staring back at her with relief and joy, and his eyes, usually as hard as ice, took on a tender loving quality of softness in seeing his daughter.
Their daughter had silver hair, with her mother's pale porcelain skin and when she opened her eyes, ringed by black lashes, they were a gorgeous turquoise blue that were full of life.
Both of the parents gasped and smiled at the little girl who was all smiles and joy.
Karin turned to Toshiro and said,"You want to hold her, don't you?"
Toshiro, being a typical tsundere, scoffed and immediately denied it. Karin chuckled at her husbands usual antics, and only smiled and gave her daughter to Toshiro.
She was clean and swaddled in a blue blanket, and when she saw her father, she smiled and grabbed his face and hair, completely fine despite the fact that Toshiro was several times colder than a usual human or soul reaper, even in his gigai.
As Toshiro held their daughter in his strong arms, Karin laid back in her bed, resting. The scene of their daughter holding and playing with Toshiro's hair and Toshiro chastising her at due to her antics, warmed her soul and made her grateful to be alive.
She felt her heart slow and her temperature drop as her vision blurred.
The heart monitor started to flatline and Toshiro called out to her over and over again, before yelling for help, any help to save his dying wife.
"Karin, hold on, you'll be okay, j-just hold on!"
Toshiro was desperate, he didn't want Karin to die just yet!
She looked at him with sad, tired eyes, and whispered, "You'll see me again, and take care of her."
She gently held her daughter again,"Please keep her safe, our little Shirayuki."
"Yes, I'll protect her, but please, just don't die Karin!"
Her child had stolen her life force, and there was no stopping fate from killing her. With her life fading, she whispered to Toshiro,"See you soon."
She then breathed her last breath as a human, and took her first one as a soul reaper.

The doctors came to see Karin lay in her bed, unmoved. They immediately rushed to resuscitate her, but it was to late.
Karin was dead.
Toshiro understood that he would see her again, that she would come back a Soul Reaper, but even so, watching her human self leave still grieved him deeply. He stared down at their child, their little Shirayuki.
Her eyes were wide, the turquoise blue startling and beautiful when ringed with Karin's black lashes. She was pale, very pale, and he could already sense how she was colder than ordinary humans, much like him. As he stared into her eyes, he noticed the intelligence of her own gaze, a question glimmering in her crystalline depths.
"Why are you sad?", they seemed to inquire of him.
He looked away to see Karin's cold, dead body, the warmth she always held dispersed. Shirayuki blinked her large, soulful eyes before turning her head to see her now deceased mother. Tears began to pool and pour from her eyes, but she didn't utter a single sound, not even a whimper.
Toshiro stood and left the room, sitting in the chair he previously sat in, in hallway he waited in earlier for, and now with his newborn daughter. He silently cried with his daughter, the unreasonable grief wracking his body the same way the snow storm wracked the shuttering windows. He sat there for a near eternity, a sculpture of ice and grief in the hallway.
Even the murmur of passing nurses didn't intrude on his stupor. That is, until a bell like voice interrupted his wallowing.
"Why so dramatic?"
His head arose and turned to identify the achingly familiar voice. Shirayuki, though only a newborn, turned to listen to the voice.
Karin was shocked to see both her usually stoic husband and her very young daughter faces, their silent tears a testament of their grief. Shirayuki grinned, and started giggling despite the tears, her joy of her mother being alive evident.
She started to reach for her, and only then did it hit the newly reunited couple that she could see her.
'For her reiatsu to be strong enough to already see Karin at birth, let alone interact with her...How strong it she going to get?'
Toshiro sweatdropped as Karin gently held her daughter, wearing a soul reapers black and white Shihakusho and carrying her Zanpakuto, a nodachi named Goka no Akuma (Hellfire Demon).
She gently cooed at her daughter, gently poking at her cheeks and stroking her snowy locks. Toshiro kept careful watch of the hallway, not wanting anyone to see his daughter floating in the air as his now invisible-to-humans wife held her. That's when they heard it, over the howling of the blizzard outside it came.
The low, thrumming of a scream.
A hollow, and a close by one at that.
Strong too, as already they felt it's reiatsu collide with theirs even if Toshiro was seriously restraining his powers, as to not accidentally freeze everything, even the air. Toshiro used his reikaku to observe the hollow, and saw it was at least the level of a captain. Not only that, but hordes of smaller hollows were advancing here.
It didn't make sense, why would they converge on this hospital, unless...
A shiver curled up his spine as he realized why. He cursed, and Karin immediately turned to her husband whose handsome face had scrunched into an expression of strain and frustration.
"Toshiro," she whispered, her voice calm but worried, "what did you figure out?"
He stayed silent a beat before taking in a quick breath and turning to look at her, his crystal turquoise eyes serious and anxious.
"They're converging because several beings of immense power are here. I was so stupid, I shouldn't have come if it happened cause I'm here..."
"Okay, so, there's Ichigo, whose Reiatsu is suppressed, my dad, whose Reiatsu is suppressed, and you, whose Reiatsu is suppressed. You read as normal humans, well...fine, maybe a bit above average humans, and you're saying that you shouldn't have come? So, say you're gone, my brother and dad are still here, so it would've happened regardless of-"
She was interrupted with a groan from Toshiro when he mumbled, "I forgot they were here, another dumb mistake..."
Karin blinked at the new information and immediately questioned, "Now hold on, you forgot they were here?! Not only that, but who were you counting?"
He massaged his temple as he dug into his pocket for soul candy before replying, "Me, cause I'm a captain, you, who is a newborn Shinigami with high Reiatsu, and Shirayuki, whose has ridiculously powerful Reiatsu that she doesn't know how to suppress yet."
Karin froze a bit at that remark as Toshiro's soul separated from his body, revealing a tall, silver haired man in a black Shihakusho and a white captain robe with the kanji for 10 on the back. Karin finally spoke up when Toshiro drew his sword, Hyorinmaru and released a tad bit of his Reiatsu.
"So," she whispered looking down at her child, "they're after our daughter is what your saying?"
Toshiro's turquoise eyes flashed to Karin's dark expression and murmured in the same deadly tone,"Yes, that's what I'm saying."
His gaze returned to the Hollows who were now nearing their side of the hospital, and with a quick exclamation, "Karin, take care of Shirayuki, I'm engaging them now!", used Flash step to appear before the hollows.
He then proceeded to hunt them, unaffected by the blizzard as opposed to the Hollows whose movements were severely hindered by the bitter cold.
Karin was silent for a beat before standing up from her chair. Her onyx eyes flashed to her daughter's bright, gem tone eyes, Shirayuki's eyes intelligent and clear, and Karin had the sense that Shirayuki could understand her despite being just a few hours old at most. Turning around to the chair and holding her daughter close to her body, she knelt down and placed her on the chair, staring intently into her eyes.
Shirayuki, despite being a newborn, could sense her mother's gaze, could see how much pain and worry was in her onyx black eyes. She let out a soft noise, and it was almost as if she asked her mother what was going on, questioning what she was about to do.
Karin smiled at her daughter, and gently hugged her daughter, whispering in her pale ear, "Shirayuki, I'm not sure if you can hear me, let alone understand me. But Momma's going to fight some bad, bad monsters. Don't worry, Mommy and Daddy will protect you, we'll keep you safe, I promise. And no matter what happens..."
She pulled away from Shirayuki, a smile and tears falling from her dark eyes, "Mommy loves you! Always and forever, till the end of time and back, beyond death and pain and fate, Mommy always loves you!"
She cast her onyx eyes back to Toshiro, noticing her older brother and her father fighting the swarm of Hollows, but there seemed to have no end to them, and despite the combined strength of the three powerful Shinigami, they were being pushed back. Karin glanced back at little Shirayuki, who was reaching for her, her big turquoise eyes concerned and sad.
They suddenly filled with fear.
Karin spun around, her Zanpakuto drawn just in time to slay the hollow that dared to attempt to hurt her daughter. More hollows fought their way through the gaps left by the three Shinigami as they continued to kill them, slaughtering the lackey Hollows in an attempt to protect Shirayuki.
All the while the child starred, bright, shining turquoise eyes wide at the dark grasping hands, the splatter of blood, the screams of the Hollows and yells of the Shinigami. The empty sockets of the Hollows white masked stared at her, their desperation for her clear.
If Shirayuki was capable of true mental awareness and if she knew the right words, she surely would have described it as Hell on Earth itself. The only one she saw holding the hordes of Hell back was her mother, a shining beacon of warmth, black, crimson, ivory and gold as her flames danced and weaved around her, slaughtering the demons themselves.
And would be the last she'd see of her, as her mother erupted into a pillar of flame, the light blinding a burning as it obliterated the Hollows, their screams and howls piercing the air.
The blizzard too whitened, invading the hospital hallway as it streamed past, slaying Hollows at all sides.
Though only a newborn babe, Shirayuki turned to see a figure in the blizzard, a shadow of white, white, and turquoise, with eyes the same, exact hue as hers.
Only again her eyes widened, because all of a sudden, a feeling that could only be described as relief filled her up, overflowing and pouring forth in the physical form of tears as she met the woman's eyes.
The woman reached for her and-
Shirayuki jolted awake, tears tracking down her face in silent lines as she awoke from the vivid nightmare. She slowly got up and wiped her tears from her eyes jewel depths, sitting up fully in her futon in the barracks. She did not know why, but the dream, now fuzzy and distant, was so... nostalgic.
Sad.
Real.
She dwelled on it a bit more, before shaking her head and muttering,"It was only a dream, Shirayuki. A fantastical, silly dream. Wake up and finish what you need to finish. There are no distractions in a Shinigami's life..."
Yes, it was indeed only a dream.
No cause nor need for a fuss.
Dreams weren't real, they couldn't hurt you even if they wanted to.
So why?
Why did her heart ache so and her eyes sting when she thought of the onyx woman and her warmth?
A lump in her throat formed, making breathing normal difficult.
Dreams couldn't hurt her, and that was because they were nothing but figments and inventions of her imagination. And for that reason, it couldn't, shouldn't hurt her. After much rationalization, Shirayuki got dressed in her clothes before leaving.
But despite her discipline and her conviction, somewhere, deep, deep inside of her still asked itself when thinking of the two beautiful women, "Where did you go?"
Where did you go?
