Chapitre 54: Half-Dead

The trench was a dark pit, a shallow grave where hope and sanity went to rot. I crouched low, my sword heavy. Rivian was laughing like usual, always a positive soul.

I wiped the brains of the [Hilam] from my blade.

"Jekov, when we leave here I'll buy you a visit every day!" like always he promised me a year's supply of cake.

Rivian Rand, my only friend in the war and my casketmate. He held a rope connected to my bomb and I held one connected to his. In case one of us got compromised by the [Hilam] the other would pull it, giving purpose to their death.

"What did you dream about this time, Jekov? Damian Black? Jack Jones?" he asked.

"John Gray. A new one, I was happy, free, and filled with the bright dream!" I answered.

"The bright dream, did you see it?! Hope-" I held his mouth.

The word [hope] was banned, it caused the body to form hopeful thoughts and drew the [Halim] over to feast.

"I'm sorry, Jekov, I forgot for a moment-"
