I sat alone in my chambers and stared blankly at the candlelight that flickered. It was almost impossible for me to detect the aroma of lavender and beeswax that permeated the space as my mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Cedric the entire time.

He was making an effort; I was aware of it. A bouquet of wildflowers, a hand-carved wooden wolf, and a piece of jewelry crafted from silver and amethyst were some of the presents that he brought me each day. 

In addition to leaving them at my doorstep, he would also leave a little note in which he expressed his love and expressed his regret.
