Chapter 239: Clearing the Air
Olivia POV
After a goodnight’s sleep, which we all needed, we slept in a little past sunrise and started packing. The house was a fine idea, a semi-permanent place with no check-out time we could use as long as we needed. It was hard to stay mad at him under such circumstances. I wasn’t even angry he’d invited Anthony.
It had been a while and would be good to see him again. It was the inclusion of Carl and Lynn that didn’t exactly make me jump for joy, but I could understand the problem. Anthony was hardly capable of leaving them behind, not least because they were family.
I was technically Carl’s stepmom, which made things a little weird but I was confident we could get through it with a minimum of embarrassment.
I might have still been mad about everything that had happened between us but he wasn’t. Grudges and vengeance were more Bethany’s thing than they were mine. My instincts weren’t exactly merciful nor were they malicious.
