Later that night, Jason was alone in his room. He was working on the spare cybernetic arm he bought. Jason was supposed to figure out how Talia disabled the arm but even though he had it for a week, he couldn't find what was wrong with it.
'Shit. Did she disable to motor here? Or maybe she disabled some of these nerves.'
Jason set down the tools in his hand as he felt frustrated trying to fix the arm. No matter what he did or how much he took it apart, Jason couldn't see what was broken.
'How can Talia do this? She has even less experience with cyberware than me!'
Just as Jason was about to try working on the arm again, he heard a beeping sound from his modem. Jason switched his vision so the message would appear in front of his face.
[The boss has approved of your prices and numbers. When can we get the products?]
[Currently out of town. Not sure when I'll get back.] Jason wrote and sent it immediately
The other party quickly responded.
[Understood. But just to make sure, these weapons can't be traced back to any organization?]
[Nope. My group forged them ourselves and we have yet to sell any of them.]
[Perfect. We hope to hear back from you soon.]
[And I hope to get back to you soon. My group could use finances in order to continue our research with the other products we are working on.]
[Please be sure to message use with your new products once they are available. If they are anything like the ones you are offering us, we are more than willing to pay for them.]
[Will do.]
Jason stopped responding and opened up his system. He saw the 6 digits of eddies in the bottom corner and smiled. This was the most amount that he had in a long time.
While he had been with Talia, Jason made sure to start setting up other plans for the future. And one of those was selling weapons. The person he was just talking to was one of the 7 groups Jason was offering untraceable and never-before-seen weapons. All he had to do was show them a few videos and photos of the guns and they were sold.
Even with only the down payments, Jason was already very wealthy. Once he sent the final part of the payments, he would have over half a million in his account.
'Although Talia said that I should focus on the basics, I don't feel like waiting for these upgrades.'
Jason decided to spend a few thousand eddies upgrading his eyes. Even if he was limited by his skill chips, Jason still wanted to try and improve his natural shooting abilities.
Right Eye Upgrades:
- Explosives Analysis, 3000 eddies (Allows him to see the explosive radius of his weapons)
- Threat Detector, 8000 eddies (Detects and highlights those with hostile intentions)
- Trajectory Analysis, 10000 eddies (Shoes exactly where each shot will travel, including ricochet)
- Teleoptics, 400 eddies (Allows eye to zoom up to 20x)
Left Eye Upgrades:
- Ultraviolet, 200 eddies (See in darkness, using UV flash)
- Infrared, 200 eddies (See in total darkness, using heat emissions)
- Anti-Dazzle, 200 eddies (immune to flash and bright lights)
- Target Analysis, 7800 eddies (Links with smart weapons and tracks targets)
Those along with an installation of 5960 eddies added up to a grand total of 35,760 eddies just to upgrade his eyes. Jason looked at all the money he had just spent and was surprised. Every time he got money, he would usually burn through it all but Jason still had another 80k left.
'Rainy day, Jason. Plus, we do need to be able to pay for the weapons when we have to ship them out. Eventually.'
Jason began playing around with the functions of his eyes. He wanted to be sure that they were each worth exactly what he paid for and they were. Even the cheap ones that only cost a couple hundred were very practical.
For example, when Rose came to visit Jason, his infrared scan picked her up when she was still walking down the hall. Before she could knock on the door, Jason had already opened it.
"Sup, Rose?"
Rose was still shocked that Jason had caught her off guard but decided to put that thought behind her. Instead, she wanted to focus on her objective for the night.
"Mind if I come in?" the young lady asked
Jason stood aside and held out his hand. Rose took the cue and walked into Jason's room before taking a seat at his desk. She wasn't one for small talk so she just blurted out what she wanted.
"My father is not willing to help me buy the cybernetics. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind waiting a bit so I can work a few jobs and pay you. Or I could get them now and pay you back after a few jobs. I understand if the deal is off the table now."
"You can just pay me back later. I'm not that short on cash since I have nothing to spend it on out here in the middle of nowhere."
Jason was in a good mood from getting his own upgrades and making the biggest of his sales that night so he didn't mind helping Rose get hers. Rose didn't know this though so she thought that Jason was just being very understanding toward her circumstance.
"Thanks, Jay. I'll be sure to pay you as soon as I can."
"No need to worry. Let's get you this eye and processor."
"Now?" Rose asked surprised
"No time like the present. Lay on my bed and I'll get the stuff ready."
Rose got on the bed and removed her eyepatch. Jason was surprised to see that the scar that was left there was pretty gruesome. Rose wasn't holding back when she ripped her own eye out.
"So we can do this one of two ways. We do it the pussy way and give you a sedative so you don't feel a thing or we can do it the fun way where you don't get any drugs and have to experience it all. Which one you want?"
Rose smirked at Jason, feeling like he was challenging her.
"Bring the pain."
Jason laughed when she said this. The ripperdoc +3 chipware he had installed to try and help him cheat Talia's challenge would get put to full use.
'Not like she will die easily. She's Deathstroke's daughter after all.'
Jason put on his mask to hide the smile before turning around and facing Rose with all of her new implants and a set of medical tools. Then the surgery began.
