With blood all around me, I can make full use of my blood magic. Not that this will be necessary.
As I lay eyes on the struggling adventurers I can't help but give off a delighted hiss followed by a low rumbling before immediately opening my mouth wide releasing my venomous most breath at full force.
The loud sound is enough for the adventurers to hear me. They glance over at me while fighting and grow pale. From how the battle has been going, they would have won albeit with some injuries.
Adding me to the mix wouldn't be enough to kill them all, but they would certainly lose some members. That is if I were a normal monster with ordinary skills.
Alas, I am not and they are about to find out.
"That's a wyrm, isn't it? We are all going to die!"
"Calm down, it's just a lesser wyrm. We can kill it easily if we work together."
"This is more than we can handle. We'll lose people if we don't retreat. Getting another sigil isn't worth getting some of us killed."
"Don't you think I know that too? But what can we do when that thing is blocking the exit closest to us?"
Situational awareness is a good thing to have but sadly it requires sufficient information on the enemy to be of use.
Come to think of it, this group of adventurers is from the alpha plain, right? Where are the carriers? Even if this dungeon has little to nothing that can be dismantled there should be at least one carrier with the group.
While I keep breathing out venomous mist with my widely opened maw I look around while zooming in on the dungeon map.
There are two more red dots on the training grounds than adventurers that are fighting. I look at the edge of the training grounds where the dots are on the map and see nothing.
I switch to thermal vision and immediately two cowering human figures appear where there was nothing before. Those two that I can only assume are the carriers of this group of adventurers must be using some kind of camouflage equipment or skill.
Since I can see them using thermal vision, it's probably not a very sophisticated measure of concealment. As expected of something used by carriers.
<You might not be able to say that for long. Once our new carrier project gets going you'll be in for a surprise.>
No matter what you do I'll still be able to kill them with less effort than I'd need for adventurers.
<We'll see.>
By now my venomous mist breath has reached the fighting adventurers. They seem confused about me keeping my distance but just the occasional glance they spare my way makes their situation more difficult.
They are all covered in small cuts and wounds from the extended fight. Most wounds have already stopped bleeding with the blood clotting setting in.
Now that my venom touches their wounds, the clotting dissolved like fresh snow under the midday sun. Small trickles of blood begin to emerge and the adventurers quickly notice that something has gone horribly wrong.
"What is this shit? Why are all my wounds bleeding again? Even the one from a few days ago is bleeding again!"
"My leg! It's bleeding through the bandage!"
"This can't be. Those bandages are supposed to stop bleeding by making the blood clot upon contact."
"Calm down everyone. It must have something to do with the lesser wyrm. It could be a mutated species."
"We need to get out of here or we'll all bleed to death!"
"Don't panic! We need to fight off the skeleton knights first."
"Easy for you to say. You are the one among us with the least injuries! Figures that you would prioritize getting out at the expense of us!"
These guys are too easy. The moment things go south they immediately sink into discord and stop trusting one another.
They don't seem to realize that by yelling at each other they are just wasting their precious time. Time they could use to escape.
After all, other gates are leading out of the training grounds. They just need to somehow get around the furiously attacking skeleton knights. But if they worked together, they would easily make it out even if I joined the fight directly. But if they are fine with exhausting themselves, I shall stay put lest my advance would get them to work together.
Even if they escape, every second their wounds are in contact with my venomous mist breath strengthens the effect. If they take too long, they'll bleed out after getting away. Not to mention that using the dungeon map I could ambush them at least a couple of times before they could reach the castle's exit.
However, those are just ifs.
"What are you guys doing? We can't fall back or the skeletons will overwhelm us!"
"We need to move towards the lesser wyrm and kill it or at least drive it away so we don't bleed out. We'll deal with the skeleton knights after that."
"You can't do that. The wyrm is no threat to us. If you attack it, you might draw its aggro. Then we'll be in an even worse situation."
"And if we stay here we will die from blood loss. The lesser wyrm takes priority!"
They are indeed slowly inching their way towards me while fending off the skeleton knights that are madly charging at them.
If I let them come too close things might get ugly. I'll attack them now and sow more seeds of discord between them.
As they approach further I release a low growl and begin to attack them with my energy fang skill. Seven fangs made of energy appear and shoot at the adventurers. I pointedly avoid attacking the guy who said they should first fight off the skeletons. The others all struggle to defend against my attacks as I keep launching series after series of my energy fangs at them.
They quickly notice that one of them seems to have it easier.
