The tension in the room was thick and heavy. I swear, it was making it harder and harder to breathe. Was that real? Or was it just nerves? I was guessing the latter of the two but, hell, I didn't know for sure.

And, did it really matter what was causing it? All that really did matter was that I had taken steps forward and backward in the attempt to make it so that Mr. Mitchell understood the truth. It seemed like he was just looking for things to latch onto, to hate me for. And it was starting to get annoying.

We were talking again, but it was beginning to feel like the elephant in the room was tripling in size about every minute or so. Before long, we would all be crushed under its enormous girth.
