"I think it's time we stop pretending." On the wooden desk, he declared

The heat between them flared to life again, and Madeline's breath caught in her throat as Pyris's hand lingered on her cheek.

The tension from their last encounter was still there, simmering just beneath the surface, but this time, it was different. This time, there was no hesitation, no game.

Madeline's eyes fluttered shut for a moment, her body betraying her as she leaned into his touch. 

The logical part of her mind screamed at her to stop, to regain control, but the fire in her veins drowned out those thoughts. She had tried to resist him before, tried to keep her distance—but now?

Now, there was no point.

She wanted him.

Pyris could see the shift in her, could feel the desire radiating from her as she stepped closer, her body pressing against his. The need that had been building between them finally broke free, and Pyris wasted no time.
