"It's time to harvest our crops." Alexandre finished his utterance. As one should know, it was in the final days of the month of August, thus, Virtya needed to harvest barley that they planting in Chanya.
"Well... Eugene fueled 1 million gold coins for the construction of the granary as you asked and after a month, the granary is now ready for the storage of the cereals. We only have 2 million gold coins in the treasury and it will remain like that because all the revenue of the month of August will be used to pay the civil servants and other workers. As you know, we have employed many people." Alexandre reclined on his chair and yawned.
"That is not bad. We used to have as little as 300, 000 gold coins in our treasury but now because of our engagement into business, we can boast about having millions... Wow. Anyway... Let's see what those merchants from Litbridge kingdom will say. They are the only people that I depend on right now. If the deal goes right, then I can manage to secure at least 10 million gold coins from them... Yes, I know because of their war, they don't have food because they didn't have the time to plant it, but we on the other hand have it, this is a chance that I am going to use. We have more than enough barley, right?"
Virtya had a complacent look, he took in a deep breath and reclined on his seat.
One should know that Virtya planted barley on almost the entirety of Chanya with only a little of piece of Chanya being occupied with sisal plantation. Furthermore, the denizens of Azuhai also did not rest as through the use of the plough and Vlad's campaign, they managed to increase the land that they usually ploughed, therefore, Virtya was expecting a harvest like never seen before, he was sure that there were people especially these large scale farmers who were intelligent enough to follow closely what Vlad told them, Virtya was sure that these farmers' income would grow to an insane amount if they manage to secure deals from other kingdoms that didn't manage to get enough produce from their farms.
"I believe that you will surely make it." Tanya said. Virtya turned to her and stretched his hand as if he wanted to ruffle her beautiful white hair but he then retracted his hand and rubbed the back of his head.
"Thanks for believing in me. I must get through this."
That evening, Virtya ordered for the bus-like carriages to get the prisoners from the dungeons and the slaves who were working in the textile industry. Virtya also employed the locals as he wanted the produce to be quickly harvested and ferried to Golton district where the massive granary was built.
It could be seen that Virtya didn't waste any time, even if it was night time, the locals could be seen on a queue as they stood in line to get into the carriages that were taking them to Brovon district.
Manya Moslow was a 17 years old woman and a mother of two children, her husband left her for another woman when her second child was merely an infant. However, Manya was a strong woman in that she managed to scavenge for food and shelter for her children until her child who was an infant could now walk even if it was haggardly. Even if her children could not wear clothes because she was poor, she made sure that they were well fed. As one should know, because Manya couldn't afford the expenses of living in Whiten, she was forced to live in a dilapidated mud house with a leaking roof in Polkok district.
Actually, Manya could afford a smile nowadays because of the resent developments in Azuhai, she had been getting jobs here and there even if she was not employed permanently but the money that she got from those part time jobs enabled her to buy the local cheap clothes for herself and for her two kids.
Her kids were well behaved and she could leave them at home with her neighbor whom she paid a few copper coins so that they could look for her children as she came to work in Whiten district.
On this day, Manya had just came from her job when she heard that king Virtya was hiring people to go and harvest barley in Brovon district and the harvesters would be given free food and receive a payment of three gold coins when the harvesting was completed. The harvesting would take a week because Virtya was employing 100, 000 people to work on Chanya and ensure that everything was harvested on time.
