Chapitre 124: Hope: a dangerous thing

She nodded and unwrapped herself from Lucien's arms, but he held onto her hand.

The king cleared his throat, and the room fell silent. "It is such a joyous occasion, and I thank all of you who have gathered to celebrate with me."

"As we all know, we have finally won the war against Valoria, all thanks to my son," he gestured at Zarek, who bowed his head slightly. "And, most importantly, to celebrate the life of your future king, Prince Lucien," he searched the crowd for Lucien and nodded his head when he found him.

"And to crown this very occasion, I have a special announcement," he paused.

Everyone exchanged glances and waited for the king to break the ice.

"Princess Juvia will be here in a few days, and Prince Lucien will be officially engaged to her!"

Levina felt her heart sink as reality kicked in with great force. Her mother's words replayed in her head, 'Hope is a dangerous thing.'
