Chapitre 88: No Regrets

They were both staring at each other as they listened to the hurried footsteps to the front door and waited for the sound of the door being shut. 

He noticed the forceful way of the door, hitting the doorframe and how the hinges shook a little after it was slammed shut. 

Closing the door wasn't right because it was slammed—closed with force. He wondered what made Granny do that. Was it because of her guilt that she was trying so hard to hide by acting bitchy towards Iris who flinched when she heard the sound of the door when Granny slammed it on her way out.

He heaved a deep sigh and picked up the abandoned steak on Granny's plate and on his too. He made an effort to put food on their plate even though they were not going to them. It became a habit that they had acquired because they still had to pretend that they were eating as a way of blending into the lives of regular people.
